Could Vermouth have been a scientist in the past?

Post by Miliolina »

Just a thought that occurred to me when i re-read some old chapters; I can't even consider this a hypothesis. Sorry if this point was already discussed, I could not find it. ???

It just bothers me that Vermouth could disguise herself as Dr. Araide for so long. Of course it is Vermouth and she can disguise perfectly, but what about all the medical knowledge that is necessary to perform such a long-time scheme?

Vermouth usually seems to impersonate someone for only a short time.
Spoiler:
Like Azusa. Vermouth even mentioned how hard it is to impersonate someone without getting caught.
Even if she had the time to learn stuff about medical theory, what about the practical aspect? I can't believe that it is so easy to decieve all sorts of patients like this, even if we don't really know how and how much she interacted with them.

If I recall correctly, she decided to impersonate Araide after she stole the file cases that were connected to Kogoro in some way. Surely there would have been candidates that would be easier to disguise as, that could also be used to investigate in the schools.

It would be plausible if she was a physician, biochemist or pharmacist herself. Ai proved that she can examine people (dead or alive) to a certain degree aswell.

Since we don't know how old Vermouth is, maybe she pursued such a career before her acting career. Maybe that's one of the reasons why she is so strongly connected to the Miyanos and their research. Or maybe she was a scientist before she entered the BO?

Thoughts, anyone? Or did I miss some explanation that was going on?

Hum. You make good points: it could be that Vermouth did some research and spying on Araide before moving in and impersonating him.

Maybe she had access to his patients' files and memorized the main traits of each one to be able to interact with them.

I don't recall if she ever explicitly said why she choose Araide of all people but maybe she thought that she could use his status as a medic.

And it's true that we don't know why she got involved with the Miyanos and their research which she openly admits she hates: she doesn't hate Haibara for betraying the BO but for the research she's conducting.

Whenever I think about Vermouth's actions... I always find myself wondering and wondering, trying to see what she actually is and what does she want.

I remember reading lots of theories regarding the APTX and one of them is about immortality. "What if the boss wants to be immortal; What if they want to ressurrect someone important". There may be people who believe in this, but Vermouth, herself, cannot even accept it because it goes "against its nature". So maybe, if its about this or getting younger or anything else and she really was a doctor/scientist (or whatever) who strongly believes that nature is not to be messed with, of course she wouldn't like it.

But what bothers me is, would this lead to 'HATE'? I mean, it is against true nature, but scientists exist to experiment even if they have 'crazy' ideas. So at the end of the day, I cannot understand why she hates that drug (and also the family) so much.

As for the topic itself, I can agree with Spimer. She studied a bit of everything and once again has done her job properly.
