Supporting character absences

Post by Brekclub85 »

With a cast of characters as large as the one DC has, it's obvious that some will have much smaller roles than others. However, have there been any characters who you found it weird/surprising that they either haven't been used in a while/seem to flat out vanish?

Ones that come to my mind:

Dr. Araide-I know his one real big important connection to the plot concluded, but he showed up only 2 more times after that.

Eisuke-Again, I acknowledge that his story arc was pretty much resolved and there's a reason why he left, but I am surprised he hasn't even had a cameo since.

Hattori's father-For all the cases that have been in Osaka, he's only shown up very few times. Heck, I think inspector Otaki has had more appearances then him.

Sonoko's sister-It's odd how she showed up twice pretty early on, and then after that she was gone for more then 15 years.

What about you guys?

Eri hasn't had a case centered around her in ages. I think the last one was the one about her birthday 6-7 years ago.

Pretty much Eri... She's been just mostly doing things instead of getting fleshing out recently. The flashback case showed some of that Mouri past nicely but aside from that.. Alot of little things and stuff like being in the hospital during the tea party case. Moments but nothing more than that.

This didn't occur to me until I read about it on the Conan wiki, but in fact recently Shiratori went over 3 years without appearing at all. A recent AO had him in it, but other wise the last time he showed up in the anime was in early 2013.

From what I remember/read, Gosho said that he forgot that dr. Araide is still alive.

I like Eisuke, because the interaction between him and Conan was pretty funny, and indeed I'm missing him. Eri could appear too, but that means that Ran will appear too.. and the episode won't be funny anymore.

I'm missing Komei, though. Kan-chan appears relatively often, but not always along with Komei.

What? Ever since Komei was introduced in the Red Wall case, the two of them have always appeared together.

Speaking of that case about Eri's birthday, that was also one of the last two times in recent years Inspector Yokomizo was involved in a case, the other being that one right about the Mystery Train arc.

Now he's only a character in Pokemon.

Who doesn't this notion apply to? I presume a lot of DC characters have been placed on the "wish they'd be characters, again" list, some since the Cell Phone Arc, others since the Bourbon arc.

Well, you're the second to make this statement:
KuwabaraTheMan wrote:I miss when Shiratori was a character in Detective Conan.
And, once again, my response:

I sense Ran hatred here.... Well she appears in almost all the chapters so if it's Eri or not she still appears! So bear with it ;)

Is it similar to Haibara's BO senses?
