The next case in the manga not yet animated, Chapters 921 to 924 which is probably gonna be two part case, was published from May 13th to June 3rd last year, the case after that, Chapters 925 to 927 which will probably have two parts as well, was published from July 22nd to August 5th. Given that the anime has always been pretty much a year behind the manga, I would not expect many more manga-based episodes in the near future. We are only now coming up to the bigger breaks in the manga last year.

Well, we have just come off of the longest AO streak in DC history, haven't we? Maybe it was so long to compensate for Gosho's hiatus, in which case we should be getting the normal mix of AO and manga-based episodes now.

The small number of manga-based episodes in recent months was due to breaks in the manga that happened before. Now we are up to the point where there was a bigger break with old chapters reprinted due to Aoyama being hospitalised. There were many anime-originals recently, but it doesn't compensate for the breaks between cases yet to be animated, it only compensates for the breaks between cases already animated.

At the very least, the next AO-only period is going to be shorter than the last, since Gosho's initial break (March–May) was longer than his second, after the Shinichi/Ran meeting (June–July).
