There's a lot to explain about motives that the culprits give when they're defeated, some of them are tear-jerking and tragic, while there's other but few motives that were unsympathetic and senseless.
There are motives that where about the death of loved ones that the victims caused, there are motives that the victims were not murderers but they were rude, abusive, selfish and self-righteous and there are motives that the victims were lovers that dumped the culprits to go with another girl heartbreaking and causing jealousy to the culprits.
As you can see those are the motives that the culprits gave they were punished and humiliated by the victims without deserving.
On the other hand we had motives that were stupid, senseless, vile, wicked, etc.. those are the ones that they don't deserve sympathy at all and they deserve a harsh punishment.

Movies 1 and 5's were really lame.

I know what you mean. Destroying buildings designed by yourself because they weren't symmetrical (Movie 1) or killing people related to construction of a pair of skyscrapers because said skyscrapers block his view of Mt Fuji (Movie 5).

Hm, I think his motive was pretty understandable and alright. It's his method that was just completely bonkers.

Well in my opinion the woman was desperate of the death of her sister, and I think she actually didn't wanted to kill the young teen only to scare him and send him away.

@megamind1988: no, the problem with movie 15 is not the woman. It's the bomber who wanted to flood the whole village by blowing up the dam and just to retrieve some diamonds.

thanks to that woman conan was saved from that bastard from being killed by him.
