Is it just me or does Mouri not smoke as much as before?

Recently (episode 550ish+) both manga based and AO episodes, Mouri seems to not smoke much anymore. Before he would smoke in pretty much every episode that he is in, right now I rarely see him smoke. Anyone else notice this or is it just me?

Main characters smoke less in general, anime included. It's part of the 'anti-smoking' campaign.

That scene is from episode 178 which was aired January 31, 2000. It hardly can be called "recently".

And Vermouth is not a 'main character'.

Just found funny to post it. It was not an answer like: "You're so dumb, look at this gif of course they're still smoking like a chimney"

Kogoro drinks less too, and is less violent towards Conan as well - fewer gag hits to the head. I think the acts of just about everyone have been cleaned up. Even the Black Organization have started wearing seatbelts. It's not surprising because Conan has acquired a reputation as a classic promoting-good-citizenship-and-lawful-behavior anime with varied corporate and law enforcement tie-ins. Not to mention a lot changes in 20 years in terms of what is acceptable to show on tv.
