This was discussed on another forum I frequent, and my thoughts still remain. We need a true vs., which this is not, according to AstroNerdBoy's review.

This movie was surprisingly quite a fun ride. They righted a lot of the missteps that were so problematic in the original special (which I still liked, let it be known) and while it's definitely not perfect yet, they did a great job bringing the two franchises together in some entertaining and often quite fun and funny ways. What I liked most here, though, was they gave the Lupin characters a little more time to establish themselves. In the original, they kind of felt a little foreign and out of place at times, but here, they really got to shine in all of their scenes.

I'm in for a third one--let's go.

If I had anything to point out as strange this time around, it'd be that... Some of the Conan voice actors seem to be aging out of their roles. Satou sounded very un-Satou-like here; a bit deeper and quite a bit older than before--almost as if it were a different voice actress at work. Yumi's did too, oddly.

Somehow I have a feeling that was a typo and you meant to say it was awesome, but it's correct anyway, because you were indeed awesome.

I had loads more fun with this movie compared to its prequel. Not only were the Lupin characters more established, I felt that the case had more impact this time around, too. Not too mention that including more characters from the DC cast wasn't a bad thing either.

Can we have that Haibara motorcycle scene be canon please? That'd be so cool.

Still no idea why Lupin is Satou's first love

Maybe it was just me being slow.. cause I thought that the plot is confusing, out of place and badly written. It has good entertainment value nonetheless, especially
Spoiler:
Lupin as Kaito Kid
Conan with Jigen
Detective Boys with Goemon

I thought that they reused the plot from the TV special, the princess who wants to run away, and replaced it with the artist who wants to run away. The worse part is that I didn't find him valuable enough to the main plot other than being used as a venue for an underground deal, which can happen anywhere private without him. Pointless cameos of FBI, sure, cause Conan can just summon them for the movie, Hey guys, do you wanna appear in my movie with Lupin? Come and join! And though I enjoy Haibara with Fujiko, I found it weird that the two are together for that long especially in the bath tub, well, fanservice. Fujiko knowing Sherry and her work? There are things or characters that the writers should had left out from the script cause including them sometimes make it more complicated.

I think that Sato said that in the earlier Conan movies and it was just put here right?

YES!

This film made me smile and laugh constantly. Excellent screenplay and usage of characters.

The exchanges between characters really nailed it. Finally Shiratori gets some good appearance in a movie again. Chiba's love interest had more lines than Chiba. Great after-credits scene and a fake teaser. Most surprising appearance goes to Jodie and James, I really didn't expect them to show up, but I really like that they did.

A really good crossover. Kudos to the writer who managed to balance between the huge cast of Conan and the small cast of Lupin.

Mystery felt kinda convoluted, but this was hardly the point of this crossover so it doesn't matter to me.

Overall, really enjoyed it.

Didn't really notice it with Sato, but with Yumi, yeah. Her last speaking line threw me into a moment of "she sounded kinda old for a moment"

By the by, poor Heiji, he had a cameo at the end, but I don't think he actually had a speaking line.

not sure if i should use spoiler tags but i will anyway

This was gloriously good and the exact type of "who cares about the mystery, give us characters" thing the series has desperately needed. There was so much good comedy and fun in this. I think I could sum up the problem with most later Conan films as trying too hard to be both a good murder mystery and a quality semi-action-y flick, and frequently only half succeeding at both. That's probably one of the reasons I'm more forgiving than most at the stupid Movie 14, because it at least had better focus and was interesting. But this is what that movie should've been, pure fun. As a case, it's ok (I guess?), if not too interesting to follow, but as a love letter to fans it is so good and strikes that balance between respecting itself while having fun with itself. The original special was such a disappointment because the fanservice was downplayed too frequently and the plot was just dreadfully uninteresting while trying too hard to make you care. Thankfully, they learned from their mistakes.
Spoiler:
Undecided on how I feel about how it tied to the last movie though. I mean I like continuity but...eh...
-So this is what Katsuo Ono can do when he isn't forced to make NINETY hyping SONGS FOR A 2 HOUR MOVIE. This is easily his best work since Movie 13, or even 11 (which might be one of the only good parts of that movie?). Though the main Conan theme in this was a bit off...intentionally I guess...

-Sato and Takagi are still the best couple
Spoiler: So many things
-One of the two best scenes for me was the whole Sato, Zenigata and Lupin scene early on. Even ignoring the brilliant overuse of Lupin masks (DOG LUPIN : DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD), that was an unexpectedly decent sized and really exciting chase along with some silly mind games before and after Sato is so awesome, she doesn't give up after being all that electricity. She could barely move and nearly got Lupin. BADASS.

-The other best scene was the fake turned almost accidental suicide. In terms of literal cliffhangers, it's not quite that Heiji and Kazuha one, but it's up there. It hit all the right notes in how to keep the suspense. It also played into both Sonoko and ESPECIALLY Ran's characters perfectly. Sonoko's friendship and how much Ran means to her is taken seriously (and getting immediately mad at the dude he was all over for putting Ran in danger) was nice. But this really got Ran's character better than most things nowadays and is the type I want to see more. The one who is overly kind, never wants to see bad things happen and puts herself on the line to help people. Even Super Conan worked better here because it fit a Lupin movie. This is also the first worth caring about "Ran in trouble scene" in forever.

-Sonoko being a creepy fangirl for a bit was genuinely hilarious.

-So much of the humor was self-aware at its own goofy cliches, and I just loved that. It was just completely willing to be silly and dumb, and that is a good thing. Especially Jigen just making fun of Conan's catchphrases, that was amazing.

-Even Yumi taking Zeingata's vehicle was a great little joke.

-While I genuinely love the Lupin characters, they just kinda fit their roles as well as usual and had some cool interactions and I find it hard to think of remarkable things to say despite working as well as anything. Lupin's cunning and a perv, Fujiko betrays Lupin but not really etc. Otherwise, they're still kinda guest stars for a Conan movie, though again, done better than last time.

-Nakamori being horribly depressed that Kid would use a gun is genius.

-"Alan Smithee" hahahaha cute

-So that tease at the end. ...I think they're saying we're actually going to see a Lupin vs. Kid movie but having it be 2020 and then crossing that out without any followup is just...weird...
