This year's 35th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine is announcing on Wednesday that a television anime adapting Gosho Aoyama's Magic Kaito manga has been green-lit. The anime will be animated by A-1 Pictures, and will broadcast in the time slot before the anime adaptation of Aoyama Detective Conan beginning in October. The anime is one of the projects being done in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Detective Conan's serialization in Shonen Sunday.
The original Magic Kaito manga revolves around a young budding magician named Kaito Kuroba who follows in his late father's footsteps as the legendary thief KaitÅ Kid. The character has since appeared in Detective Conan stories, often as a formidable rival.
The manga was previously adapted into a series of TV specials in 2011. Gosho began serializing the manga in 1987, but put the series on hiatus in 1988. Since then, it has been serialized irregularly, and the fourth compiled volume of the manga was released in 2007.
And so we say AMEN!

Again ?
(Although the previous one wasn't a real tv series per se, this might be the third adaptation for some episodes like the one in the train.)

So... the animation studio currently doing Persona, SAO, Fairy Tail and Black Butler have decided to take MK under their wing.
Should we be worried or...?

...wait...
why?
They literally adapted half of the chapters already, and that wasn't that long ago! I think even the gap between the two FMA series was longer.
Also, what about Hakuba and Spider?! I wanted to know what that was about...

Anyone know if it's confirmed that they'll be redoing episodes instead of just continuing from where the specials left off? If not, I guess it would be nice to see some of the skipped ones become animated...

I'm just hoping they don't drop the Spider-Hakuba plot. I liked those specials and they're actually worth watching.

I hope we won't see the third variation about the Mystery Train case.
But other than that, I like the idea. Perhaps they also will make some original episodes too.

Think you meant "Crystal Mother". (But it does have a train!

)
Who knows what will end up with! I'm excited regardless. (I'm quite curious to see if Clockwork Heart or the other skipped chapters will be included though...)

Puto suggested an interesting possibility.
Maybe Crunchyroll will pick this up and then we can have a legal streaming, and subtitles wouldn't be an issue.

I like A1 Pictures, especially how they adapt from the original manga or light novel. Let's face it, fillers are sometimes necessary so that the anime won't overlap the manga. IMO, they make good filler content. They had good animation but, they've gone on budget nowadays.

Let's see how Kaitou will look in A1 compared to TMS. XD
@Kor, hopefully. But would they? Where do they base the anime that they stream anyway..
