After reading a couple of cases over again, I decided to make a list of patterns among who turns out to be the culprits in the cases.

1. If one or more people is murdered, and another person is just attacked, the person who was "Attacked" is the killer (This is the one with probably the least amount of exceptions to the rule.)
2. The suspect who apparently has the strongest alibi is usually the killer.
3. If all but one of the suspects has as established motive to kill the victim, the culprit is most likely the one without the known motive.
4. If all the suspects in a case have an established motive, then the killer's real motive is something the other suspects did not know about.
5. If the suspect count is 4 or higher, and the gender ratio of the suspects is "3 or more of 1 gender, 1 of the other", the killer is likely not the sole male/female suspect

Are there any you guys have picked up on?

It sounds weird, but I remember at one point in the anime I mentioned to my friend the killer was usually the prettiest one o_O I don't think that happens anymore though haha

A lot of the time, the nicest person there is the killer a lot of the time. On a side note, the biggest jerk usually becomes the victim.

I noticed that a lot of the male culprits are the 'handsome' ones. T_T (Not that I really think so XD)

I've always seemed to notice a vastly higher chance that the person asking the police if they can leave yet is the criminal than somebody innocent, though I admit to not always paying attention to who asked.

With the patterns becoming more and more prominent, I sometimes wish Gosho would throw in a serial murder case with a ruthless killer who has no motive but to kill for the heck of the thrill. That would definitely shake things up a notch.

I'd like to see a case where the person who is murdered is one of the nicest people there and the murderer just happens to hate them. Red Wall case came close but...

It looks to me like a definition of a bad AO.
It's obvious who's the culprit, but there's no evidence to the viewer. Conan will find it though.

Honestly, I remember a lot of cases where Conan struggled to find evidence for quite a while.

It does seem to me in DC that a certain suspect, unlike how American mystery series often do this, is not made the red herring because they have the worst/most suspicious attitude.

For example, in the loan company murder case from Volume 15, the culprit was the most openly rude of all the suspects.

Yeah. I wasn't really thinking when I posted that. A day or two after, I realized that it would be rather boring one and not really a mystery at all, at least to the viewers and to Conan, since there is only one truth. :p

Anyway, for me, personally I see each culprit as different person with different motives&behaviour. So I don't see much of pattern of culprits, other than being culprits. :p
