In the beginning he was 7 years old , but after so many volume , did it even pass a year ?
Is he 8 years old now or still 7 years old?how many time pass since he shrink?

Wow, that's a pretty good question. I'm curious too. I think I read it passed less than a year, but I'm not quite sure. Does anyone know the answer?

I've always thought this was humorous but just gave up and suspended my disbelief. The anime runs for 12 years and yet a character has yet to age :-P

i still have my bets that his 6 cus  evry time  thay show his classmates  there 6  years in age wen thay show there  name and age  but in one case  wen he go 2 the case i cant rical  but there this girl that  says .(  i think    i am older than you    you can clearly see  here name and age says 7 . but by now his conan is 7 years old for shure  . soory for my crappy  spelling . i link pics of  my pruf  wen i find the case

Good point. But that show doesn't actually follow much of a story line. I think it would be hilarious if Conan ended up reliving his life all the way until he was 17 again.. People might start to realize he's really Shinichi :-P

I've been attempting to figure out the manga's timeline, but I've only done so passingly.  So far I've found the following:

The series seems to currently be taking place in the year 2005.
A case in the early-mid 400's (episode count, but also in the manga) takes place in late March/Early April.  The day + day of the week only works for 2005.
The "Clash" arc takes place mid-may using the previous assessment, plus a statement about Friday the 13th.  This means they apparently either skipped Conan's birthday, or are using a makeshift calendar that doesn't and cannot exist.
There's also the case that takes place in episodes 266-268 that deals with the manga's Valentine's day.

Using this, the entire series likely started around October/November of 2004, in continuity that is.

Bart, yeah, but look at Maggie, she should be older than Shinichi.  Instead she's crawling around with a pacifier.

To be fair, I'd say a little more than two years passed (adding up the cases as counting as one day.  Not accurate, but gives a rough idea).  Days have certainly passed from case to case, but I don't think there were many drastic changes to the character's ages, aside from Conan's height and other physical features like that (which could also be in part of Gosho's style developing).

Plus, it's common for cartoon characters not to age, especially cartoons that run for long periods of time.  Gosho didn't intend for the series to be so long and doesn't have DC running on a storyline (or a clear, consistent one, anyway), so that's just the series format.

I wouldn't even say that... we can't base it on RL time... I'll say about 6 to 9 months have passed.

Well, Conan has a fairly early birthday (I suppose, early May... whatever), so she could just possibly have a late year birthday.  I know I was in the same class as people with December Birthdays when mine is in February, so for most of the year I was "a year older" than them.

Either way, he's more than likely still 7, unless my timeline works and they aren't using a hodge-podge calendar in which case he just turned 8 yet never celebrated.

I think you just at some point have to stop thinking about it.
