Are people here happy that funimation is starting to release new Detective Conan episodes or no. personally I'm happy to get more DC for a decent price on dvd.

I'm glad, but since Funi probably won't dub anymore after what they have already done, I'm kind of disappointed.

....I'm honestly trying to respond to this without getting banned. Anyone have any ideas?

Happy?? Mmm.. I'm no not happy, but I'm not angry either  Anyway, it doesn't really matter to me I'll stick with the fansub, 100x better than Funi 

I am.  Season 5 tentative release date: 3/30/09.  Source: flyer in Lyrical Nanoha A's box set.

twenty to one that is not the date. season 4 is being release on 2/14 or 17 and there has been a two month gap between the sets and the gap between 3 and 4 is about three months. if 4 kids was releasing case closed then I would belive you when you say you do 100 times better. but funimation does do very high quality subtitles so lets just say your subs are better (I am trying very hard not to offend anyone).

I've pre-ordered "season" 4 already. I want legal subs. Better that than trying to import the sets at Japanese prices! I probably won't even bother listening to the dub though. They were starting to make pointless story changes, not just understandable puzzle adaptations, and have taken so long to get anywhere that I've gotten used to the Japanese voices (Rachel's VA > Ran's VA, though, IMO).

I am. It's a lot easier to buy for Funimation and set it into Japanese subtitles.

In my option calling the Funi. Version of case closed Detective Conan is an insult. I yet to see an Americanized Case Closed more like a murder mystery there are then a comic skit. Funi in my option need to remove the 'fun and games' from murder mysteries genre.

well, at first: I live in Germany, so I can't talk about Funimation, but...:

in germany the publisher of the movies is Anime Virtual. and we had every second month a new DVD until now, but now we will get two movies in three months which means that the normal/basic standard of releasing has changed and i think that this could happen here (Funi), too...

P.S.: why am i talking about the example "movies" and not of the example "episodes"? - well we had no new dvd releasings of episodes for years...

Well s4 was pushed back a month or so, afaik that's not a completely illegitimate date.

it is the current date I am getting season shipped to me, it was going to be released this month but it got pushed back to this month.

No I am not but I respect the happiness of anyone who is looking forward to the box set.......?

So anyway, Funi has a track record of editing things make it "easier" for the American public to understand ( ) which ends up with them ruining things but has that improved?

Will they actually do a pure translation of DC(all the murder cases,locations, references, & etc stay the same) or will they stick to their old tricks?

this is news to me

I mean Funi did that with this dub but that's the exception to the usual Funi dubs.

ya for once I agree with KK, they might have done with DBZ era dubs but not anymore except DC
