I suppose it shows that time is passing, though imo, they seemd better proportioned before, though I wouldn't be able to say from which episode.Schillok wrote: I like the new drawings better. Size of the face and the total height of Conan - and the other Detective Boys - are more in proportion.
Beside, they look more mature that way. The only indication that some time did indeed pass during the last 735 chapters...

I recall Gosho saying something in an interview that he's slowly progressing from drawing Conan at three-heads-high to four-heads-high. It's just a matter of time before he looks likeSchillok wrote: I like the new drawings better. Size of the face and the total height of Conan - and the other Detective Boys - are more in proportion.

No amount of apologies will express how much I regret it.

@milaneechan - I thought he looked a little funny with a round face. I agree that his sharper face makes him look more like an adult, but it doesn't look weird to me. I take him as a more serious person.

What bothers me is how the look in not close angles, I mean, When they show you a room or something with Ran, Conan, Kogoro and whoever you want, they don't look really good (The drawings I mean) and then they zoom in to Conan Face or another close angle and they look really good. Why is that?

Probably because they want close ups/zoom ins to look good and neat.xGinx wrote: What bothers me is how the look in not close angles, I mean, When they show you a room or something with Ran, Conan, Kogoro and whoever you want, they don't look really good (The drawings I mean) and then they zoom in to Conan Face or another close angle and they look really good. But they don't really care when they show the whole scene, because nobody pays attention to every detail? So they just rush it.

Re: Conan Only
Most animation studios used to give to the TV networks a rather draft version of the anime and keep the high quality for the DVD releases...
I don't know if this is still the case, with HDTV and all...

I can just say that from my own experience in drawing. But when you have to draw a body that is not zoomed in, you have "squish" the details of the character. This could make it look strange/ugly and also, the studio could rush when they draw such scenes. Anyway, if you have space to draw it's usually easier and thus makes it automatically look better too. I like the newest drawings, because he looks like he's becoming a pre-teen.

LOL, yeah... But he can relive his preteen years.xGinx wrote:About time, after what? 15 years? xDDetective Tommy wrote: I like the newest drawings, because he looks like he's becoming a pre-teen.
In OVA 9, his teenage look really weird with glasses.
Maybe because I know what Shinichi looks like.. so Shinichi wearing glasses looked a little funny.
And he looked like such a nerd

I think it would be weird for him to look like a pre-teen b/c he is supposed to be 7. if they are gonna age him, they have to age everyone else too.Detective Tommy wrote:LOL, yeah... I liked the drawing style of him around the late 200's and early 300's, though that's pretty vague itself. And Shinichi with glasses didn't look too bad.
