First, If I didn't know what that date was I'd think you were really random because when people say "the week of" they usually start on the Monday (or Sunday) of that week. Of course this is assuming you meant to use the anime anniversary date.
Second, they definitely would not have it for one week and change it. We'll either change it for the new year or keep it for another month or so.

I was referring to the anime's 20th year anniversary.

I'm more speaking of "Kimi e no uso" when I say that, but I'd rather they not switch to Opening 42 before the episode on that first full week of January.

The scene of him reaching into the light in this opening is taken right from him doing so in Opening 3. You probably knew that, but, in this case, it's more of a homage, rather than, "Hmm... let's see what we can recycle, this time...", at least for me.

So you just have a problem with the act of "reaching out for the light," in general (it being an anime cliché).

Fun fact—the original Nazo was the longest DC opening, in terms of the number of episodes that started with it.
1: Opening 3: Nazo – Episode 53–Episode 96 (43 Episodes)
2: Opening 7: Mysterious Eyes – Episode 168–Episode 204 (36 Episodes)
3: Opening 11: I Can't Stop My Love for You – Episode 271–Episode 305 (34 Episodes)

Finger must've hit the wrong key, because I didn't even realize that it came out as a 9, instead. Correcting now!

Ah, right... I forgot the post-Vermouth arc ones—I think START is the only post-Vermouth arc opening that went for more than 30 episodes. Only 4 other ones went past 20—15, 33, 36 and 37 (That's only 5 of the openings since and including 14, which happens to be START, up to now (41) that have passed just 20 episodes).

For the openings, I try to like for them for what they are, not for what I'd like them to be. That being said, I personally enjoyed this one, especially the first half.
