I have kind of different opinion than You. I remember in another topic we were talking about how bad Ai's childhood was. If she stayed a child, she would be given a chance to live her childhood again, and this time without supervision from the BO. At the very least she helped destroying the BO (we all know the BO will be destroyed), so she at least deserves having a normal childhood, and life, love &c in return.AICHAN wrote:I just don't like the idea of Ai staying as a child and growing up again. It would be contradictory with what she said about how human shouldn't change the flow of time. And also that would show she's not strong enough to face her responsibilities and her destiny. Not to mention that using the benefits of APTX, just for selfish purpose while it killed so many people,is horrible IMO.themasq wrote:Heh, true. I'm sort of bothered by the age difference. But hey, maybe something else will happen for her. We don't know yet. Haibara is well aware of Mitsuhiko's feelings. If she will notice (provided she didn't notice it yet) that Conan is not going to dump Ran, I think she will choose even Mitsuhiko over being alone. She does like being alone, granted, but she's pretty young. Far too young to understand what being lonely entire life means.
Plus, Mitsuhiko is smart. And she also knows that. She knows that, and she knows that her life won't be boring/senseless as it would be for example with (stupid) Genta.
And there's one thing more. Mitsuhiko. She likes Haibara, because she's kind of mature and different. I think he's not going to ditch her after learning that she's adult. Ayumi would ditch Conan, Genta would not even notice what "adult' means, but Mitsuhiko rather will stay with Haibara regardless.
I think Gosho planned Mitsuhoko for Haibara from the start, and if she's not going to marry Shinichi, I will be happy if she will marry Mitsuhiko.
Now she's forced to stay as a child because there is no cure, but when she'll find out the antidote I really hope she'll use it.The best way to be happy is to be honest with people around her,and not be lying anymore. She doesn't really need to be paired with someone now.

There is nothing normal for an adult to live a second childhood. If her memory was erased then maybe I would agree with you.
No matter how hard her life was,it's the past, and she can never erase what happened to her. She's not the only person in the world of DC to have a sad childhood, that doesn't mean they can't be happy in the end.
I don't see what is bad for Ai to take the antidote and stay with Agasa without having to hide her identity.Living a lie is never a good solution IMO.DC is all about courage and truth,so Ai staying as a child would go agaisnt the DC logic.

I agree with AICHAN. For me Ai not returning to being Shiho would be like running from who she really is and from her responsibilities. Besides, even if she decided to stay as Ai to live her childhood again, it wouldn't be true childhood, since she's not a child, in fact. I wouldn't be disappointed if Ai and Mitsuhiko would end up together, they could make a good couple, but I would be disappointment that Ai chose an easy life and is not brave enough to deal with her past. Honestly, if Gosho wants Ai and Mitsuhiko to be together, I would prefer her to return to Shiho, first and then in the future date Mitsuhiko (age difference doesn't matter), at least, she would have courage to face her past and who she really is. By the way, do you that Shiho will be convicted for being the member of BO, in the past and creating the drug that killed people. Well, I should say 'should' she be convicted, since I doubt that Gosho would end up his manga with Shiho in the prison.

What responsibilities? She has already suffered enough to think about alleged responsibilities considering the fact she doesn't have any family to be responsible for. And I don't get it what's wrong with "running from reality". If reality was so bad as the one Ai had to experience, there is nothing wrong in wanting to distance herself from it. Although I agree that, should she stay as a child, she would be more comfortable with her memories erased, otherwise the semblance of a new childhood wouldn't be complete.soul_dreamer wrote:I agree with AICHAN. I agree that Ai suffered enough, but it doesn't change the fact that she worked for the criminal organization, created a poisonous drug and maybe even did other crimes. Of course, she was born in the organization, and she didn't like that the drug that she created was used for killing people. However, she still hold responsibility for it, not fully, but still. If Shiho would end up being convicted, then most likely a lawyer would ask her why she didn't inform the police, knowing that her drug was used in order to kill people. Shiho is smart, I'm sure she would find a way to contact the police before BO would find out about it. I doubt they would be successful, in arresting BO, at least, not right away, but there could be a chance for Akemi not to die, since the police could protect her. Of course, it wouldn't cross Shiho's mind about informing the police, she wouldn't believe in the police's capacity of arresting the big syndicate; she continued working on the drug, even knowing that people died, because of her drug. She only ceased her work on the drug, after her sister's death, but she didn't take any action, before. She said herself that she started dislike the organization when they started to apply the drug towards people, however, she didn't do anything to prevent it, and even if it seems impossible for her to do anything, like I said Shiho is smart and she would figure out something.
Just to be clear, I don't want Shiho to end up in the prison, but I also don't want her to pretend that nothing happened by being Ai. I feel sorry for Shiho and what she had to go through, but I don't want her to play a role of a victim; I want her to face her past and responsibilities. Look at Jodie. Her parents died, when she was a child, and Jodie who had a chance to live a carefree life, she decided to follow her dad's footsteps knowing how dangerous this life would be and look how Jodie grow into a strong woman. Jodie's life might not be such so complicated like Shiho's, but Jodie definitely didn't have a happy childhood.

I'm honestly fine with either scenario. But only in the context that at the very least, the people she knows as Haibara would know about her true identity. I wouldn't be able to really make a call on what the right choice is at that point, and I find either option to be entirely understandable.

But this isn't DC logic,as I said before.DC is all about truth and courage,so Ai staying as a child would be the exact opposite of what Gosho tries to tell in this manga. And IMO it would show Ai hasn't changed at all, because she would chose the easy way and not the right way.Life is hard but she will survive, like she always did.The difference is that she won't be alone this time.Si there's no need to stay as a child and having a second childhood.Mario2000 wrote:What responsibilities? Not to mention that many people died because of her drug, she's aware of that,so facing her responsibilities wuld show that Ai has a sense of justice, and then again that would prove she has changed a lot.
And of course I agree with what soul-dreamer said.^^

I hardly can say that Haibara has a sense of justice. Otherwise she would be less bitchy towards everything and everybody. I still remember how malicious she was the first day in school. Conan almost died of being worried if something happened to Agasa. In a way Haibara likes to play around with people.
Anyway, I like the MitsuxAi couple. It still has some chances even if Haibara will get her body back. Mitsu loves adult women, and already seen Shiho in that burning house in the forest. He easily could connect things - "deus ex machina adult woman" + "afterwards missing Haibara", his love to Haibara could grow even higher

Or Mitsuhiko can end up with Ayumi, because as far as I remember,he has a crush for Ai and Ayumi...Nemomon wrote:I hardly can say that Haibara has a sense of justice. And isn't isn't that desperate to end up with a child, but that's my opinion of course^^
As for Ai,she had changed a lot and she cares about people more than before, including people who aren't close to her(the pregnant woman who was stabbed by her husband for example).
Also Ai feels bad about her drug from the very begining,so she knows she has to face her responsibilities. She blamed herself for making the drug during the mystery train, thinking about her mother. So I guess she now has a good sense of justice.
