I started an entire thread a while ago detailing how much they suck, and they certainly haven't improved over the past few volumes. 

Unfortunately, they belong to the group of character that will live forever, despite their need for death. 

The probability of Shinichi's death is greater than the sum of the probabilities of any of the three dying.
(In fact, Shinichi's life has been endangered more often by the Detective Boys than the Black Organization.)

the most ironic thing about this is that in the earlier parts of the series, the Detective Boys cases were the best part

but of course I care more about character and plot development than anything (and although there isn't much  lately, there was alot of character development for the Detective Boys at first)

If only there was any character development, maybe the Detective Boys would be close to tolerable but there isn't.
- They still provoke armed criminals just like they did before (Vol. 4 File 10)
- They are still ungrateful little freeloaders just like in the beginning of the series. (Vol. 6 File 6)
- They still endanger themselves and others just like they do in the beginning of the series. (Too many examples)
- They still blow Conan's covers just like they constantly do before. (There are so many examples you can easily find one within 5 minutes)

Even Gin has more character development despite appearing less than half as often as the Detective Boys.

Of course, I don't whole-heartedly wish that they would just drop dead (just half-heartedly  ).

However, given the question: "Which "good guy" character(s)'s death(s) would be best for the overall story?", it would indisputably be the Detective Boys.

eheheh.. I luff ShinXRan so I don't want them to die... and if Haibara dies, that would just be plain sad! and to be quite honest, I don't think Shuu will come back from the dead (sorry, folks)
ok. if either Shinichi, heiji, or kaito die, I'm gonna bring out the volcanoes and hyenas. I love them too much, so I reaaaaaaaaaally hope they don't die...

Heji dying would be interesting... Add some angst!Conan (which we don't see enough of, in my opinion)...

Also, Takagi must die. It's just the way things work. (Even though it would be depressing). Sato's got a death-curse as bad as Shin-chan's...

Not Eisuke though (I like him, and besides, Ransuke is my OTP...).

Ai's death would put an interesting twist into the story line, but I can't really see that happening...

Shiratori's death would be passable, but wouldn't accomplish anything... Since SatoTakagi is canon, he's not a threat anymore...

If Conan/Shinichi dies, no more story... So not him...

And yeah, the Shonen Tantei would not be overly missed...

I voted for Mouri but in truth hes the 2nd person i would want to die. The first would be Genta. I HATE him soooo much that kid should died in the first scene he was in something along the lines of
"theres a robber right in front of him but hes to stupid to realize and instead goes off and gets something to eat, the robber then gets pissed off he moved without permission and so he blows off his head."
Ohhh man i swear why isn't that retard dead yet? So annoying how he can be so stupid and get into so many dangerous situations and not get hurt even once.

Mouri is stupid to so i dont like him much either. Hes so arrogant and belittles Shinichi when in fact hes a complete idiot.

Hell yeah I did T_T He's such a sore loser and a jerk and he's ugly and his hair looks like road kill and his eyebrows are f***in' weird and he's just a creepy Satou stalker. *shudders* He's no good for any female >.>
