True, I expected a bit more Sonoko after hearing the title but it turned out to be exactly what an OVA is:
a short story which is too different from the normal anime episodes to be shown along with them (because it is too silly ).
Seriously, the OVAs show as many different characters as possible with a rather... unusual plot.
Sonoko (despite having less text than expected) was great. And so were Haibara and the Detective Boys with their unique ideas/options. Only Conan himself was rather unnoticable this time.
I laughed severall times. Especially at Mitsuhikos and Kogoros suggestions.
Yeah, I really liked this OVA. It's probably one of my favorites. It was very light-hearted, cute, and quite hokey! Mitsuhiko's idea for the play cracked me up, and I loved when at the end of Mitsuhiko's idea Sonoko keeps going "NO NO NO NO NO!!" I don't think I would blame her! I also loved everyone pointing out how flawed Sonoko's original play was. xD Her character became so much more entertaining when she got a boyfriend, and the whole "boy crazy" part of her character was toned down a notch.

Now that I think about, why didn't Haibara get a "intro" as well. I'm fine that she didn't get asked her opinion for the case(as it probably would of been extremely dark like mentioned) but the DBs didn't even include her in their intro. So when it's for trips to Osaka and watermelons they add her to the group(she solved both puzzles for them) but when it's about air time they exclude her...those evil DBs.

Isn't that supposed to be Ran's favorite song or something? A ShinRan thing? It's supposed to tease the audience because we all remember that song somewhere?.....Not sure of the EXACT meaning.
But yea, I found the DBoys additions to be amusing, but completely unnecessary, and Ran's contribution, yet again like always, brought down the mood and light-hearted spirit of the whole OVA. It was a bit.....well, it wasn't what I was expecting. I'll put it that way. Really, when I saw Sonoko, I wasn't expecting to see Haibara at all. Very glad she at least showed up.
