the last 2 two part AOs make me think they should just stick with 2 part AOs.

It means less cases to make up/rip off so it makes sense...

I believe this question would apply for 2/3 of all the cases. Why would anybody kill anyone off knowing there is a famous detective around?  Must the murder happen on that same day when Mouri Kogoro is around that cannot even have to wait for a week or even a day until he leaves?  You hear about him on the news, you see him in the paper, what makes them think they could get away from a murder case when a famous detective that has solved every cases as told by the media is around?

I can honestly say that I've always had a problem with this.  You know a famous detective is around, and you're going to commit a murder anyway.  The only exception to this are those crimes that happened in the moment, like the most recent AO episode.  He got mad, killed her, and had to do something with her and went to find someone to establish an alibi.

That aside, I really do hate the fact that people don't notice Conan talking into that bowtie.  I prefer it when he hides and talks, not right out in the open, although I do know that's not always the case.
