that's basically what you said
Wow....that's kind of harsh....zi still like DC. It is never truly boring. The episodes still catch my attention, unlike some animes I won't mention. DC is not a boring anime, but it is very long. It can be overwhelming when you want Goshyo to get to the point and when you want to see action and confessions and ending. It makes you anxious because it seems like it has a long way to go......it was supposed to end this year, but it was set back for some odd reason......
I don't care what his opinion of the series is.

I care that he is repeating himself and thinks that the creator of the series has to agree with him.

Besides, if Gosho doesn't like DC anymore, than Akira Toriyama (the creator of Dragonball) has had many suicidal thoughts every day for the past 15 years.  :P
loooooooooool !good words!

@ocelot:
if gosho really didn't want to continue this serie,he would have made an ending before!so if he continue,it's because he want to finish what he did,and satisfy the fans with a good ending,as they expected for many years!(he has enough money,so i don't think it's just for business that he continue this serie)!
ok i admit that the episodes and the cases aren't as good as before,(it's always the case when a serie is long),but many people still enjoy watching  DC,it's because it still captivating(BO cases, relationship cases)!
if you doesn't like DC anymore, that's your choice, but please, don't insult the anime!

I think he wanted to tell us that Detective Conan is getting boring. It's alway the same thing. It's almost as if he must find new excuses to make new episodes.
I'm inclinde to agree partially.  That a) Gosho doesn't like some aspects of DC as much as he should b) the episodes aren't as good as the ones before.  However I don't agree he's looking for new excuses to make new episodes, he doesn't need excuses for anything xD.  With that said even Conan Dolye was sick of his character, Sherlock Holmes after a run (but then Conan Dolye is a really weird guy lol).  I think even if Gosho doesn't like DC, I think DC still has the potential to attract many fans.

I think Gosho planned many things ahead of time.  Takagi and Satou's love story, the B.O. arc, etc... however a story is not only made of epic long arching plots xD.  I think he's determined to give good pacing by inserting cases inbetween each "plot" chapter.  However I'm not sure if that's the best way to look at it, that way you don't give enough characterisation within each "mystery of the week" chapter.  Personally I'm someone that judges a story by it's weakest characters...that's just the way I like to read things.

This lead to what you said about the cases not as good as the ones before.  I guess in addition to weak characterisation there is the simple problem if running out of challenging puzzles xD.  Personally I really enjoy his cases (only reason why I read DC) and find it nice how he tries to mix simple cases with harder cases the next time.  But I guess as time goes on either we'll get smarter or he'll be using more easy puzzles.  As to whether Gosho is sick of puzzles or not...who knows.  John Dickson Carr was sick of lock room murders after discovering over a hundred ways to do it, I think even if he is sick of puzzles the series can still be enjoyable for us normal people xD.

Well, after his explanation, I kinda wish they didn't ask him. That motive is up "she threw a clothing hangar at me!" & "He ruined his hair for her!". I don't think he's making excuses but just running out of ideas of hate. There is only so much hate you can imagine while keeping your sanity.

Fact remains that the anime is hitting all-time lows in ratings week-in, week-out, and it only really seems to beat Yatterman (hardly a feat, I gotta say).

Movie 13 did really well, but it also relied heavily on the "doomsday" marketing approach with the Black Org. and all that. We'll see how 14 does, I guess, but with the anime ratings as low as they are... who knows how much longer it'll last. I've been leaning toward the assumption that the only thing really keeping the anime afloat is that, without it, it would be difficult to keep the movies going year after year.

Let's all just hope Conan doesn't have to see an abrupt end to its airing on TV, and especially not an ending crafted by the AO writers. That would be disastrous, to say the least (and impossible at this point, thankfully).

One way to fix this, Gosho--end the manga! :-*
Spoiler:
Yes, I know some people will stone me in the town square for it, but I think it's definitely time to let the series come to an end. Love it, but I think it easily reached its peak years ago, and if we're really only going down... Yep.

last time I checked ratings (a few months ago) it was still beating One Piece anime (based off of the best selling manga of all time, just so you know) so  ???

I will fully admit that it reached its peak during 345 and the many episodes leading up to it. I'm sure most people agree with this. But I just don't think it's gotten even CLOSE to bad enough to cancel it soon. And that's not just pointing out that Conan is that much better than other anime. It hasn't felt like a decrease in quality compared to the decrease in quality I would expect for people wanting it to end. (we should all agree it should have ended when they decided that A CELL PHONE NUMBER was enough plot for 2 years  :P)

But that's just me.

tbh, I agree with you. Though I love the series, I would prefer that it ends when there's enough interest in it that the ending will still live to see the anime. That, and it's always better to g oout with a bang than a whimper.

I haven't seen it above One Piece in at least the last 6 months.  Not on anything even close to resembling a consistant basis, anyway.

oh ok

But it doesn't matter. Detective Conan's going to end in 2017. I already predicted this.

I have a question, how is Detective Conan's popularity in Japan? I always had the notion that it was very popular and very well-known, unlike here in America where it's virtually unknown (partly due to the name change).

After hearing this, i have a feeling that conan's one of the lesser-liked shows in Japan, but thats hard to believe since its been on for like 15 years

can someone kinda give me a popularity check with Detective Conan?

I'm pretty sure it was consistently the 3rd most popular anime in Japan until recently.

Now it's like the 7th or 8th most popular.

I'll only be worried if it stops being on this top anime list. (thx animenewsnetwork)
