I read somewhere that there had been something going on between them. I don't remember if it was in an interview with Aoyama or if it was in the manga.
I don't think the scene itself is disturbing. But that look on Gin's face...

There are three cases that might fit. The Disturbing Part the the way these poor people are murdered.
The murderer put the rope hanging his victim in his mouth. As long as he keep his teeth on the rope he was ok, but any change and he got hung.
The sleeping with a cell phone near her. When it rang, she would lost her balance and get hung. This one is even worst in i beleive her hands were free.
But the WORST of the group has to be the hang on the the pot one. Our evil murder left him alive and made it so no help would come until too late. again he got hung.
