It would be strange if they broadcast the Department Store Stabbing Case with its Christmas references in January, but I can’t imagine them having no Mystery Tour either.

In 2009 and 2010, they aired episodes on December 26 and December 25, respectively, but haven’t done so ever since, and as this year would be December 24, I don’t know if they even considered what would be the obvious constellation for me: the Mystery Tour on December 3 and December 10, with the Department Store Stabbing Case following on December 17 and December 24. They might as well make a one-hour special out of it and show it on December 17, but I have no idea how likely specials outside anniversaries have become. Should Episode ONE close this year on December 23, which would be my guess at the moment, it might make sense, though. Luckily, whatever it’s eventually going to be, it won’t take long until we know.

Upon seeing the November schedule, I asked myself again why they couldn’t simply bring the first encounter of Ran and Shinichi after the blog case, where it would have belonged. Then, everything could have been postponed for one month, which would have allowed them to give us the Zombie Movie Murder Case around Halloween, and the Girls Band Murder Case in November, without too many anime originals inbetween. Does it really make such a difference to wait for the next sakura season? I don’t think so.

They did this with Agasa's love case. I don't know whether they had some specific meaning but we had to wait two years for that. Luckily that didn't really mess up a whole lot like this year. I see what you mean by having the Zombie Case in Halloween and the Department Store in December, but I'd say the anime should keep the episodes in order... In-case something happens later on where they decide to skip a case for a holiday in the future, and then find out that it was important for the next case that they should be airing. Hopefully they'll make the right decision and air it nonetheless.
When you introduce someone to Conan and they get bored of the normal cases and just want the org ;-;

Well I do think it does not really give any difference in what season they air the episode for shinichi and ran first contact, really.. What's more is they already show us a glimpse of that episode for song ending's theme (don't know the song's title I just watch a random episode and one of them is ep.824)

Just a thought, maybe it has anything to do for the shake of Movie's promotion?
Spoiler heavy about movie 21's hints and unaired episode
Spoiler:
I read that next movie in 2017 will be about Romance Comedy, for Shinichi-Ran n Heiji-Kazuha, and that the heroine is Kazuha (so I guess the story will be heavy with Heiji and Kazuha story and with Shinichi-Ran story too) so maybe just maybe it has anything to do with that? To built the hype for the movie, in april 2017, while the movie itself isn't Canon,but we can't denied the possibility, bcause over the years, the anime have some major atempt to promote the movie, so I guess the movie release already set around the time we have Heiji-Kazuha story (curse of the nue) and they plan to push back the shinichi-ran first contact episode around this specific time (so I guess we can have these two stories into some episodes around march-april (cherry blossom season, romance season much? Hahaha), and maybe..just maybe..that suspicious new character momogi in the end of Zombies episode will have some major role in movie

Yes, it is.

November 26th, Ep 841: "The rainy crossroads" (AO)

December 3rd, Ep 128 "The Black Organization's 10 billon yen robbery case" (Digital Remaster)

December 10th, Ep 842: "Disparate statements (Part 1)" (Vol 89 File 2~4) [Department Store Stabbing Case]

By logic December 17th should be part 2.

So that would mean that the 1-hour special will be aired on another day instead of Saturday similar to the Conan Disapperance Case.

I'll make a thread about it as well
