Without FBI and others this won't be good special *trolling*
Since Gosho worked on this episode, I wonder if we eventually will be able to consider it canon...

My dad’s a soldier blue I’ll be a soldier, too
When I grow older you will see me rescue you
I’ll teach you this old song so you can sing along
When I am dead and gone the day won’t be so long.

Well, that's one weird looking special... Can't wait to watch it though.

Wasn't the subtitle of this special "The worst day of Conan"?kentasaiba wrote:Spoiler:

OK, so what they meant by "crossover" was that there were two scenarists for the movie. That's pretty stupid, everybody thought that Kindaichi would be in the movie, since they talked about a "crossver". ^^'

It's confusing because the crossover is mentioned for this fall as well, but based on the trailer this special doesn't look like a crossover at all and two scenarists does not a crossover make.

Re: New Anime Special Announced: The Disappearance of Conan Edogawa
I'm kinda conflicted on this. On the one hand, an amnesia plot feels like a slip into the fanfiction territory, especially after we've already had two amnesia plots in DC history (or one, if you don't count the fake amnesia plot from the manga case).
On the other hand, I would kinda like to see Megure and Kogoro having to face a new temporary reality in which they don't get help in cases, or Conan acting like a real kid with the DB, or Haibara's reaction to the situation, etc. (then again it doesn't seem like the majority of the cast will even be present in this special, but I'm still intrigued to see how they handle this amnesia plot).
At this point, I just hope it will be entertaining.

Re: New Anime Special Announced: The Disappearance of Conan Edogawa
Both of the ads for this special that I saw said "Korabu" (Colabu) (short for Collaboration) in katakana (the Japanese alphabet for foreign words), meaning that they meant to use that word. Usually the word collaboration means the same thing as a 'crossover' because both authors end up putting their main characters into the special to interact with each other. However, this is a collaboration between a cartoon author (Gosho) and a live action author (Kenji) and it seems that they are using the Detective Conan characters in the universe that Kenji created for his movie "Kagi Dorobo no Method"Startold wrote:OK, so what they meant by "crossover" was that there were two scenarists for the movie. Kagi Dorobo no Method Plot synopsis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kagi_Dorob%C5%8D_no_Method
The film begins by introducing its three principal characters: Kanae Mizushima is a mousy editor for a magazine which reviews all sorts of rare and luxury items, who announces her intention to marry despite not having found a husband; Takeshi Sakurai is an out-of-work and heavily indebted actor whose attempt to kill himself fails; Junitsu Kondo is a wealthy killer for hire who has just finished a job. Their paths cross when Sakurai and Kondo go to the same bathhouse. Undressing near each other, Sakurai clearly envies Kondo's designer clothes and accessories, luxury car keys, and heavy wallet. When Kondo slips on a bar of soap and hits his head, knocking himself unconscious, Sakurai switches locker keys with him and uses Kondo's key to steal his clothes, car keys, wallet, and identity. His first action is to repay all of his debts. After doing so, Sakurai begins to feel guilty about stealing Kondo's identity and pays him a visit in the hospital; there, Kondo wakes up, but it is clear that he has amnesia.
EDIT: Lol the Yakuza boss in the original movie is named "Kudo"
I hope that I can find someway to contribute to the community even if it's just random crack theories and looking things up for people who can't find the information they need.

Very interesting, thanks a lot. It probably is the crossover then, just not the kind we were at first expecting.

Re: New Anime Special Announced: The Disappearance of Conan Edogawa
If this is indeed the said crossover, then it's not our fault for expecting something else. Gosho's answer seems incredibly misleading.
Q 86: Will Conan do a collaboration anime with any other character other than Lupin?
A: Perhaps in this Autumn's special episode? Perhaps not? (haha)
