Re: Detective Conan Movie 19: "Sunflowers of Inferno" (2015)
Sooo....anyone have an idea of when to expect subtitles? Last year it was released in October right? Or was it late september? And the year before that November?
Also I really, really wish they would bring the DC movies to theatres w/ subs in America. It actually kinda suprises me they don't, as DC is pretty popular worldwide. Even in America, where they stopped dubbing and releasing stuff for it in like 2006(I think?). I mean, I would totally buy all the movies if I had the chance. I bet a lot of others would too. Dont' think anyone would buy the whole anime though, as that would cost waaaayyy more than most of us can afford to spend on anime.

This is not true. I mean, at the very least there are so few theater releases for anime movies in America that this one doesn't meet those expectations (I don't think even most of the Naruto movies got this treatment).SakuraKaitou1412 wrote:It actually kinda suprises me they don't, as DC is pretty popular worldwide. DC as an anime in the US lasted technically until 2010 because even though it wasn't airring on normal tv, they still aired it on Funimation's special pay-channel. Also the first 6 movies were released dubbed on dvd 2007-2010 and seasons 4-5 (ep84-130) were around the same time.kkslider5552000 wrote:This is not true. As far as I remember, the only Japanese anime-related films that have come over and aired in Theaters
are a lot of the Studio Ghibli stuff and then things like the live action Death Note movies (dubbed), at least one of the Naruto movies,
one of the Bleach movies, and the two most recent DragonBall movies (Kami to Kami and Fukatsu no F).
At least those are the only ones that I have heard about in my area.
DC would be no where near those in terms of popularity in the US.

Re: Detective Conan Movie 19: "Sunflowers of Inferno" (2015)
Well there actually have been quite a bit more anime movies release in theaters in the us, but most only in select theaters. The Ao no Exorcist movie, the Evangelion movies, some of the Inuyasha movies, Summer Wars, one of the Lupin III movies, the Attack on Titan movie is supposed to, and so is Anohana's movie(which I have never even heard of). FMA: Brotherhood movie did, etc(you can find a full list of movies on wikipedia, but there are actually like 4 coming out this year/early next year if I remember correctly). Some of them were subbed in theaters, but I am not sure which ones. I think the Ao no Exorcist movie was, but I am not 100% sure. I don't expect them to release DC in all theaters, but a few would be awesome. Like how they are releasing Sunflowers of Inferno in a theater or two in a few other countries around the world. It would probably be better if they released DVD only versions of the other movies and some of the seasons, and then air some in theaters, but I do think it's popular enough. I mean, it's probably more popular than Anohana and possibly even Lupin III(mostly basing on my experience, as I heard of DC long before Lupin III). Admittedly, I don't think it's as popular here in the west as all the rest of them listed.jimmy_kud0_tv2 wrote:DC as an anime in the US lasted technically until 2010 because even though it wasn't airring on normal tv, they still aired it on Funimation's special pay-channel. Re: Detective Conan Movie 19: "Sunflowers of Inferno" (2015)
The problem is, that the distribution rights to all forms of Detective Conan / Case Closed anime in the US are still owned by Funimation. They have determined that DC does not have enough popularity and have since completely stopped with their releases. Since then, they have pretty much said that they don't care and have made it a goal to stop subtitling online of even the episodes that they refuse to dub and release, because they are the US copy right holders. Its pretty much not going to happen, and you can thank Funimation for that.SakuraKaitou1412 wrote: Well there actually have been quite a bit more anime movies release in theaters in the us, but most only in select theaters. Also, you mention that movie 19 is being released in other countries, well its already online dubbed entirely in Korean (no subs).
Thats where I got the picture that I posted a few messages up, under a spoiler box.

I liked movie 19. It had Kid, and it wasn't as ridiculous as some of the others, also Kid~. :V

Re: Detective Conan Movie 19: "Sunflowers of Inferno" (2015)
If you meant in general, at least the manga is still very much being published in the US! It is nowhere near the latest released in Japan, with the next one being Volume 56 this October, but it's definitely something!SakuraKaitou1412 wrote:Even in America, where they stopped dubbing and releasing stuff for it in like 2006(I think?).
If you specifically meant the anime, then at least the Lupin the 3rd VS Detective Conan Movie and Special are both being released this October, as well! Granted it's mostly 'cause of the Lupin the 3rd side, but again, it's something!~

Re: Detective Conan Movie 19: "Sunflowers of Inferno" (2015)
Ok, finally watched it. Here's my take on it :
I'll give it 11/20, maybe 12 if I was being generous. For comparison I'd give 19/20 to movie 3, 2/20 to movie 14 and 7/20 to movie 8.

Do you mean Movie 14, or was Captured in Her Eyes really that bad for you?Wakarimashita wrote:2/20 to movie 4
