The Watsonian would say the police probably fished them out later. Not all dead bodies float or they could have become trapped. The Doylist explanation is that it would have disturbed the continuity of the plot for little benefit in return to discuss what happened to the bodies. It would ruin the drama of the scene to have a dead body float by when Conan is rescuing Ran.Osaka Detective wrote:I have a few questions regarding a few stuff:
Movie 2: What happened to the bodies after the place exploded? The woman's body suddenly disappeared when Conan went down to get Ran, and the man's body was never explained. It was just 'seen' lol. I'm sure that no one was holding her body when the water flowed in. So what happened? Should she be floating in water too?
You mean the Torada family? Naonobu is the last Torada who was a major character that appeared in the case. I am too lazy to reread the whole chapter, but there may be extended family that was mentioned but non seen.Osaka Detective wrote:I have a few questions regarding a few stuff:
Furinkazan: Towards the end, is the old man the only man left in the Takeda Family? Uehara left and his wife was the murderer. The rest of his family got murdered by his wife. Isn't that a bit brutal to the poor guy?
A quick look over suggests it was not explained.Osaka Detective wrote: Also, during the Furinkazan Case, was the armoured man the female murderer? If she wanted to freak the other woman out, why not just go find her instead of harassing Ran/Kazuha?

What happened to Hidemi after the Department Store Bomber Case? Did she gain BO's, or at least Gin's, confidence back?

It's never really explicitly stated, but I'm sure she does since the only reason that her trust was under scrutiny was because of Scar Akai, but Gin learns that it was actually Bourbon in that same case, so he has no reason not to trust Hidemi because of that.Ringo wrote:What happened to Hidemi after the Department Store Bomber Case? Even with this assumption, do you think she will still be subject to a "trial", or the BO will finally find out about her real identity? Her last appearance makes me feel that there's still a lot more of her in DC.Pmofmalasia wrote:It's never really explicitly stated, but I'm sure she does since the only reason that her trust was under scrutiny was because of Scar Akai, but Gin learns that it was actually Bourbon in that same case, so he has no reason not to trust Hidemi because of that.Ringo wrote:What happened to Hidemi after the Department Store Bomber Case? There is no reason for Gin or the boss add additional suspicion onto Kir. Things should return to back to the way they were after she "killed" Akai. Kir had no involvement in Bourbon and Vermouth's Scar Akai plot and it was those two's fault that they failed to tell Gin about the plan which caused Kir to get into trouble. If suspicions against Kir will come from anywhere, it will be because Bourbon reports that he saw someone who looked like Akai on the train or makes progress on his investigation into Conan and finds Akai or something like that.Ringo wrote: Even with this assumption, do you think she will still be subject to a "trial", or the BO will finally find out about her real identity? There is no proof Kir knew anything about Bourbon and Vermouth's plan to disguise as Scar Akai. Kir knew Bourbon was supposed to be looking for Sherry, that is all. If she did know Bourbon's plan, she probably would have told Gin to get herself out of trouble. It would be natural for Bourbon to suspect Kir helped Akai fake his death considering the circumstances and Vermouth's pre-existing suspicion's about Kir, so naturally he and Vermouth would have avoided telling her about their plot if they could.Osaka Detective wrote:1. This is a little weird. Since Kir knew about the Scar Akai plan from the Department Bombing, why didn't she inform Jodie or anything? Is it because she is constantly being monitored? Wouldn't that not make sense? How can Kir leak info on Bourbon shortly after Akai's death, the period when she could still be monitored on, when she couldn't leak anything about Scar Akai even when all the doubts on Akai's death were cleared?Chekhov MacGuffin wrote:There is no reason for Gin or the boss add additional suspicion onto Kir. Because Kaito Kid screwed up by telling Bourbon there were bombs in the carriage. It would ruin everything if Kaito Kid didn't create the fake death scenario with Sherry's appearance. Someone had to keep Bourbon from attacking "Sherry" and dragging her out of the luggage carriage - which could result in Kaito's mask being ruined. Bourbon is a competent fighter after all. Akai used the grenade to force Bourbon to abandon Sherry and allow the fake death plan to progress. I am not sure why he would do it in his own appearance (my instinct says Gosho was trying to be dramatic) but maybe Akai was worried Bourbon would track down Okiya if he saw him that way.Osaka Detective wrote: 2. If Akai wanted to protect Kir's identity, why did he remove his makeups to throw the grenade at Bourbon? He could've done it using Okiya's face (did Bourbon see Akai's face in the smoke?) and same results. Is there a reason?

I don't have Viz's volume 35, but can someone with the official English quote me what Otonashi says on page 6 of 355/File 5 in the upper left-hand corner? It's the panel where Araide says something like "Otonashi-san, didn't I tell you not to come here again?"

Re: DC Question and Answer Thread - Have a question? Get an answer here
I just rewatched episode 345 (thanks to DCTP and M-L!) and I noticed a few things I didn't the other time.
Some of the questions might just be things that I missed and hopefully you guys didn't.
1) At 13:35, Gin says that their orders are to find Vermouth's true intentions, but then he mentions he didn't get the Boss's permission (which makes sense since Vermouth is the Boss's favourite), so who gave these orders?
2) Was the port where the cruise departed the same as the one where it returns (in the credits) and where the confrontation between Jodie and Vermouth takes place?
3) When Conan (disguised as Haibara) is driving with Jodie, he asks for a favour, what is it? Jodie later mentions that if she says the real resolution of Araide's father's case to unmask Vermouth, Conan (well, Haibara) would trust her, is this it?
4) What does Vermouth mean when she says that the witness protection program is "ridiculous"?
5) Where was Professor Agasa throughout the whole episode? Was he in the car listening to Conan's heart rate?
6) Conan (disguised as Haibara) was talking through a microphone while Heiji pretended to be Shinichi and sort of "lip-synced"; wouldn't Jodie have heard Conan since she's right beside him in the car?
7) Are Yukiko and Sharon equal in age? Sharon looks much older to me, or maybe Yukiko just looks young for her age?
8) When Akai shoots Vermouth, he says that she probably has a few broken ribs but is that possible? I mean she had a bullet-proof vest but he used a shotgun loaded with buckshots, wouldn't that have done much more damage, potentially killing her?
9) I don't understand the whole transmitter part at the end. So the device monitors Conan's heart rate and if anything happens it will send through the transmitter what it recorded through the microphone, correct? So it would have recorded the sound of Vermouth dialing the Boss's phone number (supposedly since we don't see the scene)? Also in the susbtitles it says phone number but in the audio you can clearly hear "mail", error or can mail be intended as phone number in Japanese?
10) In the end when Vermouth calls Gin for help, we can see she's injured on her leg, when did she get this?
11) This is not to do with this episode but, when does Shinichi find out that the serial killer he and Ran saved in New York was actually Vermouth in disguise? Also is this the reason Vermouth doesn't want to harm Shinichi and Ran?
12) What are the name of the OST tracks starting at 44:50, 54:50, 1:07:55 and 1:09:00 and in which album can I find them?
I know, many questions.

Re: DC Question and Answer Thread - Have a question? Get an answer here
I can only answer some I'm certain of:
On Vermouth, she doesn't want to harm them because Shinichi saved her life when she was disguised as the killer. Similar reasons with Ran probably. I'll have to check on that.
This is all I can answer for the moment
I think it was so Conan can confirm Araide was Vermouth, so yes.3) When Conan (disguised as Haibara) is driving with Jodie, he asks for a favour, what is it? Jodie later mentions that if she says the real resolution of Araide's father's case to unmask Vermouth, Conan (well, Haibara) would trust her, is this it?
She shot her own leg so she could wake out of the sleeping gas. Agasa hears this when he hears a gunshot through the microphone. When Conan wakes up, he sees a pool of blood on Vermouth's seat.10) In the end when Vermouth calls Gin for help, we can see she's injured on her leg, when did she get this?
He does suspect Sharon Vineyard at that time, saying she could have disguised as the killer since she didn't attend the concert. I think. Then here, he confirms that Sharon is Vermouth, and BO = includes being a serial killer.11) This is not to do with this episode but, when does Shinichi find out that the serial killer he and Ran saved in New York was actually Vermouth in disguise? Also is this the reason Vermouth doesn't want to harm Shinichi and Ran?

Stars.
Lately, it seems Gosho is prone to draw some weird outfits (Bowling alley murder case, I'm looking at you!), but I noticed that giant stars seem to be recurring. Is there an actual real life star phenomenon to explain this or has Gosho decided to star spam everyone's wardrobe?
