Now now don't be angry, idiots are entertaining <3  ;D

And if Haibara dies, I'll have to fly to Japan with my pitchfork and torch.  I rather every single other character die...that would be pretty dramatic actually!

Hey, I have an idea, let's have a THIS SUCKS / NO THIS SUCKS / NO YOU / NO YOU argument for a couple pages, that will really be great. - Ingmar

A lot of Haibara hate in here huh.  ;D.
Well as crazy as this will sound, I believe Haibara has the least chance of being killed off if anyone is killed. If you think about it there is no real reason to kill her other than to satisfy RanxShin fans. She's no longer the main priority of the BO like she once was so that just leaves three scenarios where the BO would kill her. One is to be randomly spotted by a member on her daily commute but Haibara rarely(I say rarely cause there was that one anime original where she was at the mall by herself...weird) goes out by herself, so this is unlikely. The second would be if a member was deployed to surveillance the area to find information about her and succeeds in locating her, which is also unlikely.

The final scenario is her taking a bullet for Shinichi or Ran in the final confrontation but this has already been done before.
Spoiler:
During the Vermouth climax where Ran used her body to shield Haibara
And not to mention Heiji and Conan have already been victims of the "I'm going to die but not really" bullet, so the story using the same trick again is also unlikely and evil if out of all the Main Characters to get shot, Haibara is the only one that dies. ;D
Then there is the big reason that everyone and the pet cats see this ending coming, so I don't think Gosho would even use it. He will hopefully do something unsuspected like my Mouri- Judo Samurai Master ending.

well sonoko is kinda fun to have in, but it wont do much to impact the story. Btw, I'm a firm ShinichixRan supporter. I love such relationships. So sad. =[
As for who dies, I still think Haibara is gunna die in the end. That would be sad though. She's so smart and pretty >.<

My votes were Shuuichi and Ran.

Every time Shin'ichi gloats to a culprit about being a detective or blames only Gin for separating him from his peers shows me that he really hasn't learned anything from his troubles, and his ego is setting him up for a tragic fall by the end. His own death wouldn't work, he's already too comfortable with the idea, and it could simply justify his conceit.

Shuuichi's death might make him wonder if he actually has limitations himself and whether defeating the Org. completely and permanently is one thing that might be beyond him. Especially if Shuuichi dies as a result of a plan Shin'ichi helped concoct.
Spoiler:
I'd much rather have him dead than Ran, but unfortunately it looks like he's going to come back from the dead, or Conan is not just overconfident, but is losing brain cells.
Ran because it would show him he can't necessarily have everything he wants, sometimes one goal must be sacrificed for another. It would be especially appropriate if his detective obsession combined with his refusal to leave her contributes to her death.

As for Haibara throwing herself in front of a bullet...
Spoiler:
Haibara dying would be a waste after Ran saved her and Conan already prevented one attempt at self-sacrifice.
Vermouth would be much better for that role, assuming she is actually kind hearted and it was only an act that made Haibara fear her so much and Shuuichi condemn her rotten core.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't want Haibara to die. I only said I think she's the most likely to die, not that she's the one I want to see die. So NO I do not hate her, Haibara's actually my favorite character ever (in all animes) so yeah I for sure would want her to live! :P

I think that if Haibara or Ran were going to die it would make the series follow a more darker path.

LOL Nyarl, I love the way you think xD.  Too too funny.  Unfortunately it looks like he's going to come back from the dead indeed!  xD

With that said, I completely agree it's also why I voted Ran.  I would vote Shinichi, but like you said, he doesn't seem to mind all the much.  His death will most likely be a "martyr" type thing instead of an "I'm an idiot" thing anyways.

After I read the other replies, I'm thinking "best" (for the overall story) is not such a good term. Most people appearantly tend to equate it to "hate and would like to get rid of", while some (like me) tend to equate it to "love and thus cause a dramatic scene if he/she died, which would create some great story development".

Because I really don't hate either Akai nor Haibara/Shiho, on the contrary, I'd hate to see them die. Which is why their deaths would be very dramatic and give a boost to the story.

But what dramatic boost will you get from an event everyone is already predicting?
It's like watching a movie you know the ending too, you won't be surprised and there's the possibility that you would be disappointed instead for being able to see the ending coming a planet away.
