Re: Conan's IQ

Post by Callid »

The highest IQ ever measured was about 220. Therefore Shinichi's/Conan's and Kaito's and everyone else's has to be below (although the manga indeed tells that Kaito's is 400).
I would rank Conan for about 160 and Kaito at about the same level. I would assume Ai/Sherry to be 145, and I would guess Yusaku to be about 180.
Spoiler:
After all, I know one guy who's so incredible intelligent. I told him a riddle:
"Assume we have 99 doors, all are closed. Now 99 kids run along. The first one either opens or closes every door (which ever is possible), the second one the 2nd, 4th etc., the third the 3rd, 6th etc. and so on until the 99th just opens/closes the 99th door. After all children have passed, how many doors are closed again?"

*2 seconds silence*
"90."

I needed about 20 seconds (IQ=~140), and  I would assume Kaito and Conan to need 5-10. How long do you need?
If  ;), :D, ;D, ::), :P, :-X, :o or >:D are attached, that paragraph may not be 100% serious. Seriously.

I needed less than a second...............................to read the answer (which you wrote visibly to the eye). You asked "how long do you need" only after you wrote the answer so people would read the answer first. Next time use the spoiler tag only for the answer and only after you ask other forum members how long they need.

Of course you're right, but because it's Off-Topic, I decided to put everything in a spoiler.
So the real task for you is not the number of doors, but the numbers of the doors (English is confusing^^). Although the time he (and me) needed for this is actually a little bit lower than the one above...

to the door riddle, I don't quite get why the answer is what it is (or rather, I don't get how you're supposed to figure that out), but after making a simulation to see that it was in fact the answer,
Spoiler:
I find it interesting that the doors that remain open are the perfect squares (1,4,9,16,25,36,49,64,81). I figure this might have something to do with finding the answer, but I still don't know what it is. :P

At least now I can solve the question for any number of doors :V

Also, it makes a pretty pattern!

Spoiler:
Yeah, I figured that those doors would be visited by an odd number of kids, thus leaving them open at the end. I think it's best approached as an integer factoring problem... The number of kids visiting {a} door is equal to the number of proper and improper factors of the number of {that} door. My problem was not knowing for sure that the numbers of the other doors must have an even number of factors. Never really had much cause to play around with factors that much, nor did I learn/remember any helpful axioms...
Heh, I wonder if most {of the} non-U.S. kids {who post here} know how to answer that... I doubt many U.S. adults could unless they just plod it out by plotting it out...

Spoiler:
It's quite simple. You can write any number as a product of a pair of numbers (36=18*2). However, in our case it will lead to one number (child) opening the door (2) and the other one closing it (54). Therefore we can ignore any factors (or divisors? What's correct?) except those who make up the number by multiplying with themselves (6*6=36), because in this case no other "child" will be left to close the door again, because "6" has already opened it.
However, the only numbers than can be made by multiplying another number with itself are square numbers. Therefore the only numbers to be open at the end are the square numbers smaller than 100, and if we subtract them from the rest, we'll gain 90 closed doors.
Or, simply put: Only numbers with a odd number of factors are "open", all others are closed.
But we're getting Off-Topic...

I made this topic, because I thought it would be funny if Conan took an intelligence test, because he would basically be cheating since he's not really a child.

I doubt he would take an IQ test seriously as Conan. It would draw in too much attention if he scored higher than an average adult. lol

I kind of wonder why Shinichi is in normal high school classes. It doesn't seem like it would be very challenging. haha Maybe it's due to all the absences. j/k

Shinichi doesn't give a shit.  He's like holmes, he has a wide knowledge of really random and assorted information.  He won't remember or recollect it until it's needed, aka, murder cases only.

He doesn't really want to be in advance classes, because in all honesty, even before he was shrunk he probably wouldn't have gone to college.  He would probably join something along the lines of the PSIA for Japan, or perhaps enlist with ICPO/Interpol.  Or he can stay with the tokyo metro police, but that would really be a waste of his talents.

Regarding all this IQ stuff nonsense with "blah blah I got an IQ of a billion" (jk), I really don't believe any aptitude test really reflects someone's intelligence.  I haven't taken a legit IQ test yet, but regarding the SAT and ACT, definetely doesn't measure intellect.  There are many ways to "beat the system".

An example would be money.  Basically, if you have the funds, higher the score.  My bro took prep classes that cost a fortune and he scored nearly perfect.  It definitely has to do with opportunity really.  Plus, reading, writing, and math sections...Basically, if english isn't your 1st language, your screwed.  What i have always heard from friends and classmates in beating the SAT is 1. Write an essay about MLK Jr. for the writing part, for the reading part...well it really has to do with if you read a lot, if you do, you're going to do well, and the math is simply memorizing formulas and tricks.

Ah, I ramble, but my point is, I don't believe in aptitude or IQ tests
