I didn't find anything strange with that, because I do that often at the various places I go to. I just thought that the way it was written made it seem like you should have known that person already from other episodes, when in fact, they kind of threw her and her connection to Conan, Kogoro, and Ran, right at you. Yeah, you could just make an assumption that Conan and Ran had known her before, but I just felt that that part was written oddly.kyuuketsuki wrote:See... That didn't bother me since... well... what is so strange about getting to know a teller at a bank? So that didn't bother me, in fact it felt more true to life, since we never saw Conan in a bank before, but it is logical that he has been there before [likely with Ran while she was cashing Kogoro's checks], and sat around doing nothing. During that downtime I'm sure he talked to "Masami Hirota," who was a nice teller, and in that time probably got to know each other to be on a first name basis with each other. But you are right, it is all dependent on how you see it personally, and that was my interpretation.CarpetCrawler wrote: I liked that one, but one thing that bugged me, and this is pretty nitpicky of me, is how we're just introduced to "Masami Hirota" right away, and she's apparently a friend of Conan on a first name basis. It felt like it was written in a way where you'd think that she had appeared in episodes beforehand. That's just how it felt to me, personally.
Like I said, a bit of a nitpicky thing to point out, but it did bug me a little. It doesn't downgrade the episode at all, though. It's still a fantastic episode, and when she talks to Conan and he discovers who shot her... one of my favorite scenes in the show. And then the end where we see Conan with his head down, and Ran holding him with her head also down, while that sax solo is playing... very powerful scene.
