While a lot of AOs are boring, some have cases which are simple but clever, and I like that. Those 3-part manga cases can be kind of hard to fully understand. But then you've got AOs like "The Man Who Was Betrayed By The Sea". It was frickin' genius but at the same time I ended the episode knowing more or less exactly how the trick was done.

But the "issue" here is that latest Nagano episode took 3 episodes. I admit, I liked it too (because I like Komei), but AOs at best are 2 episodes long. While not so many stories, including manga ones, can beat it, we also must remember that not every case (including AOs) must be excellent, because otherwise current excellent episodes will become average at best. About Kogorou, in the manga he also ignores the fact that someone is using him. As well every other character ignores the fact that someone used their voice to call everybody to the crime scene. They first scream together "you called me to come here", and then ignore the fact who really called.

He has no idea someone is using him, he thinks it is all himself, but a different side of him, the real him, see the Kogoro in the Bar case for that. As for other people, usually Conan doesn't use their voice, but rather speaks in their name, e.g. "Takagi told me to gather all of you here", etc; at least in manga cases, some AOs might be different.

4, 118, 162 and 304 have already gotten "the treatment", so I highly doubt it would be one of them.Swagnarok wrote:Calling it; the last two episodes of the year will be 842-843, which'll be the department store stabbing case. Then for December 17 they'll re-air a really old, hour-long episode, or a twenty minute one. Some possible candidates for the December 17 re-airing include 4, 54, 118, 162, 304, 400, etc.

But like I said in the previous page, "Episode One" is scheduled to air "this winter" so it must air at some point in December unless they do like the Conan special of a couple years ago and air it on another timeslot which isn't Conan's regular timeslot.
Well, guess more info this special should come by next month so we'll know for sure by then.

The length is not an obstacle. We have 3-parter AO already, such as episode 603-605. The Ebizou special has the length of 4 episodes. However, most of the time, they don't have enough ideas to put in such long AOs and such AOs feel very stretched out.Nemomon wrote:But the "issue" here is that latest Nagano episode took 3 episodes. Re: 2016 November Anime Episodes Schedule COMPLETED! (4 AO)
I actually can't think of an AO off the top of my head where the problem was being stretched out? Usually if it's bad, it's just bad. Maybe some of the movies? If anything, I found the opposite problem. A good chunk of 1 episode AOs felt like they had to RUSH THROUGH EVERYTHING ASAP to get to the plot points of the case (without stopping to make the case feel like it matters as a murder mystery) to the point that a Wikipedia summary would only be slightly less enjoyable.eros1607 wrote:The length is not an obstacle. I can think of quite a number of manga based cases with this problem though. 3 part cases quite a number of times had a big issue on the 2nd part being like 75% looking around to find evidence without a lot else happening, for example.

With 3-part manga cases, at least the premise and the deduction is good enough while in AO case, meh.kkslider5552000 wrote: I actually can't think of an AO off the top of my head where the problem was being stretched out? yeah, but how many 3 part AOs are there? Nowadays, how many 2 part AOs are there? And while not as true recently, in the past, the 2 part AOs were usually considered to be the better ones.eros1607 wrote:With 3-part manga cases, at least the premise and the deduction is good enough while in AO case, meh.kkslider5552000 wrote: I actually can't think of an AO off the top of my head where the problem was being stretched out? I do agree that 2 part AOs almost never live up to 2 part manga cases though.

Just recently, The Man Who Died Twice. Didn't have enough interesting stuff/story to justify being two parts imo.kkslider5552000 wrote:I actually can't think of an AO off the top of my head where the problem was being stretched out?

Entirely disagree. There's no way it would've worked in only one episode, it had way too much going on.Serinox wrote:Just recently, The Man Who Died Twice. I'm not saying I liked the case much (it was objectively fine, but shockingly boring despite itself), but it wouldn't have been any better in a shorter format.

Maybe there was too much for one episode, but there was not enough for two episodes either. Well, we got what we have now, a terribly boring two-parter.kkslider5552000 wrote:Entirely disagree. Well, this is disappointing. I'd have thought that they would air the remaining two (excluding the First Meeting case) Manga cases of 2015 this year, but it seems not to be. And they usually have a few weeks break in December, with the last episode being early-mid December, and then re-airing in January, so it'll be one more case and it's more than likely to be the Mystery Tour, with the Department Store case in January.
When you introduce someone to Conan and they get bored of the normal cases and just want the org ;-;

Re: 2016 November Anime Episodes Schedule COMPLETED! (4 AO)
@ChappiePete: the tradition these last years is to air the Mystery Tour in december and it usually takes two parts
December will only have episodes on the 3rd, the 10th and the 17th. The 24th is Christmas Eve and the 31st is New Year's Eve so they won't air on those days.
Two of the December episodes should be the Mystery Tour.
So the remaining could be either an AO or a remaster
We don't know if the "Episode One" will be aired on another day and timeslot different from usual like they did with the "Edogawa Conan Disapperance Case" two years ago, guess they'll do that (which could mean it'll be aired on a Friday).
