I'll partially disagree with you here. True, if used frequently, it can lead to the characters (or scenes) look rather awkward. But when used during a closeup situation with a high amount of tension, the thick lines seem to add a bit more feeling of urgency, like when it was used during the Bell Tree Express case.
Aside from that, if used in normal or calm situations, it doesn't make any of the art look good.
Yeah the older coloring was amazing especially during night time. These days those scenes just don't look anywhere near as good as we saw in vampire mansion case...
I think the best episode where the coloring looked really good for some reason recently is 734. It just seemed smooth for some reason, and fitting for that time of the day where the sun is going down etc.
I do agree that the art looks very odd at times, but I don't think they could afford the cost of high quality art with a long running Anime series like Conan.
Imo, the art looked the best at the Clash Arc, I think it was around the 495~510.
Lol at this topic....hmmm....the London arc has great animation so is the Shiragami case...hehehe
I think it is because of HD that the animation looks brighter.
