But why Takagi? and it's not like Satou even wants to marry. Takagi's in that stagnant romance stage, where he needs something to move him one step closer to marriage. Unless there's some hidden promise that Takagi made when he was little and Satou was a witness to that promise. (I should stop myself before I think of actually unbelievable, not convoluted, things)

I'm in my crossover craze again, so bear with me:

Anokata is a Vampire that was made with one of the stone masks in the second part of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Vermouth is one of his Zombies that, however still has a lot of her own thoughts. The reason she can be in the sunlight without problem is because he experimented with her but the technique with which she was created either doesn't work on Vampires or leaves the person with a fatal weakness. (The experiment is of course the APTX project.) He still keeps the experiment running but is also chasing a stone that is said to give immortality. (See JJBA part 2 again for what he might be looking for.)

However, just like Dio, he has made a family his enemy. Namely the one both the Kudos and the Kaurobas belong to.
Unbeknowst to everyone - including themselves - , the two youngest members of that family (Shinichi and Kaito) have developed Stand abilities (introduced in part 3 of JJBA). They are still mostly dormant but they helped Kaito to pull some risque stunts and saved him from Akako's trap and somehow make Shinichi able to detect murders. Shinichi's abilities are now stronger since the APTX-incident because it works similar to the arrowhead in part 6: If it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger.
That would also mean that Ai is a Stand user. It either hasn't shown itself or it's the "sense" that tells her that a BO-member is nearby.

OK, here is an actual theory of mine:

The BO is a splinter group of the Nazi Party. How I got the idea:
1) Ai once says (well, she actually just thinks it) to Conan something like "Are you aware that you are part of an experiment that has been going on for half a century?", which would set the formation of the BO (or at least the ATPX-projeckt) at the end of WW2.
2) Vermouth was the one they tested the prototype on, in the hope to create the perfect Aryan woman. They succeeded but most of the test subjects died. This is also how the boss has control over her: The only identity she has that wasn't provided by the boss is that of an 80+ woman.
3) The National Socialist party has been known (at least very much so in fiction) to look for mystic weapons against the allied nations and for their experiments on humans. Maybe they found someone who was disabled but who looked way, way younger than he should and they experimented with him. The reason that there isn't a recipe for a juth serum is because when the Allied nations seemed to win, they burned all the research data.

Ran hired Dr. Agasa to put together a team to create a drug to shrink Shinichi because she doesn't want her and Shinichi to become like Kogoro and Eri--who actually left each other due to a plan devised by Yusaku and Yukkiko to fracture their families and draw Ran and Shinichi closer together. They believed otherwise, Shinichi would end up like his twin Kaito, be terribly afraid of woodland creatures, and feel the need to *know* the criminal mind by becoming one.

So Agasa goes to recruit two old friends, but accidentally sets off a self-defense trap that kills Jodie's parents because they were paranoid about government spies and would rather die than be captured. Their neighbor, Chris, rushes in to save Jodie and turns her over to foster care; Chris already was caring for two little children, Gin and Vodka, and was just a starving Broadway actress barely making ends meet.

Chris then makes friends with two mad scientists to develop the drug, and their daughter becomes friends with Gin. This continues until the two scientists create the drug and test it, but it ends up making them age at an accelerated rate and their bodies become that of 105 year-olds, old and senile. So Siho takes the mantle of researcher and reverses the drug, but Vodka, jealous of Gin's connection to Siho, hids the drugs in Gin's Stress-B vitamins.

Then Gin and Vodka go to a theme-park to relax and help find Vodka a girlfriend but then they run into a dude that says he'll pay them $10,000 to get some up-skirt shots of a girl at the theme-park. To look for good prospects before the deadline, they get on the roller-coaster to see any good targets and then get held up by the Police and Shinichi's antics. With time short, they went into the restroom and faked the pics, planning on taking the money and running before the guy notices the deceit. As Vodka makes the deal, Shinichi sneaks up and Gin goes to intercept him, planning to distract him by talking about sticks and tree branches but trips over his untied shoelace and wacks him in the back of the head. Feeling bad, and with nothing else to give him, Gin gives Shinichi one of his Stress-B vitamins(which of course was actually APTX 4869 thanks to Vodka) he keeps handy at all times before running off with Vodka, so excited about the $10,000 they just made.

Conan then goes to Agasa for help, who of course orchestrated the whole thing because of Ran's request, but due to his Alzheimers, completely forgot about it. When it was succesful and Shinichi became a kid again, he was supposed to name him Shinni to let Ran know it was actually Shinichi. But because he is named Conan and not Shinni which they agreed upon, Ran has no idea that Conan is actually Shinichi.

Best theory ever  :D

There is no BO. Everybody is just hyping with Shinichi.

In the end, Gin tracks Shinichi down and makes an attempt on his life, but Ran, who has been studying a secret style of martial arts, stabs him to death with her horn. Threatening Ai with it if she doesn't find a cure quick, she solves the problem and Conan is cured. They are married, Ran becomes the new master of Rhino Karate, and they open a combination karate school and detective agency.

As we all know, the series was created with many of the characters having homages to or being modeled after other famous mystery series characters or writers:

Shinichi is the Holmes of the new era. (And Conan is nicknamed "Holmes' Apprentice" in the London Arc.)
Kaitou KID is the Arsene Lupin of the new era.
The Detective Boys are like the Baker Street Irregulars, in that they help the Holmes of the new era.
Haibara has a naming pun with Cordelia Grey.
Kogoro is named after Kogoro Akechi.
Ran is named after Maurice Leblanc.
Eri Kisaki is named after Ellery Queen (which is both the character's name and the author's pseudonym).
Ano Kata is modeled after Moriarty in the original Conan Doyle canon (not any subsequent adaptations that put him at the forefront).
Doctor Agasa is named after Agatha Christie and modeled after adaptation interpretations of Watson.
Heiji is named after Zenigata Heiji.

Now, what if that foreshadows what the characters do later in the story?

By this logic, that means that Ran may end up befriending KID (several of the stories of Arsene Lupin are written from the perspective of Leblanc being there and being friends with Lupin) and writing of his exploits as he relates them to her.

That means Ano Kata and Conan may end up in a confrontation where they both appear to die and Conan has to disappear completely for years, to avoid being hunted down by Ano Kata's more loyal assistants in the Black Organization.

Agatha Christie was a writer and, though Watson was a doctor, he also wrote down the exploits of Holmes' and his adventures in the original Conan Doyle canon. What if Agasa then starts writing about the cases that Conan was on in his memory and doesn't publish them (at least, as long as the Black Organization still lurks)?
