because Ai suits the role of Irene Adler better and is the only one that is even close to his level of intelligence and may be capable of besting him

Shiho and Shinichi might have a strong romantic, even sexual tension, but I doubt they'll be a couple - two strong personalities clashing against each other, unbalanced.

I don't think their personalities clash...Shinichi is egotistical but kind to those close to him and Shiho is just sarcastic and cold but still loving to people close to her as welll
