Conan German Dub Resumes After 12 Years Hiatus

Post by S.Vineyard »

Detective Conan had finally new german dubbed episodes on ProSieben MAXX.

First airing was yesterday, with the missing episodes of "The Footsteps of Darkness".

The Dub Quality so far was excellent as always. (It's the old cast again, which up til now has also voiced the movies and the Specials released on Disc in Germany. There were only some minor replacements like the Agasa voice actor, since the old one died.)

The only main difference so far is the lack of editing.

No German Songs anymore and Japanese Titlecards. Also full ending songs (had english credits, meaning they are using an international master.)

I actually expected the later, since this makes it way more easy for secondary usage via DVD, Blu-ray and Streaming.

Updated the thread title to make it more clearer what the contents are.

Thanks.

The new episodes are also available online on the ProSieben MAXX Website.

(This is most likely Region Locked, but I wanted to share it anyway.)

Maybe the same will happen with Case Closed.

(note: it won't)

Yeah, it won't.

Detective Conan never became a big hit in the U.S., while it still is immensely popular in Germany.

Heck, it was lately announced that the Old Gosho Aoyama's Short Stories OVA will get a german release.

Normally I hate Double Posting and to brag, but:

Man, is the Dub of the New Episodes good.

The whole Ai-Chan thingy in "A Friendship That Can't Be Bought" was apparently solved as it was in the German Manga, with it being changed into Ayumi wanting to give Haibara a Nickname. (Which at the end says, that Ayuma doesn't need to.) Ayumi's new voice is the only minus, with it being too queeky.

And the "The Suspicious Spicy Curry"...... the beginning was so fun, Kogoro's voice is soo awesome....

I really didn't realize how much I've missed the show until now.

It's rare to hear about a good dub, could you guys please tell me where I can find that outside of Germany? I've been planning to brush the rust off my German for a couple months now, and it could be the right time and occasion to do so.

I don't know and I don't believe it's allowed in the Forum to talk about Download Sources.

You can try the above Link with a Proxy Server to bypass the region lock, but I don't know if that will work.

Wow, it got me to like DC, so t's good to hear that they are back. Thanks to the German dub, I became a fan. Good old 2002.

Is Ran still calling Shinichi Chinichi? Last time that gave me a good laugh. :D

Otherwise it has a nice dub, I liked Megure's and Kogoro's voice a lot. A Ran's too.

I liked the last episodes especially with Eri and Yukiko. They got Yukiko's first voice actress back, who was the best. (They also got Heiji's old voice actor back. He had another one in the movies.)

The Third Week of December will finally feature my favorite all time episode, the Ghost Ship Case, which will be split into five episodes.

(German Title: Direkte Konfrontation: Zwei Mysterien in einer Vollmondnacht 1 - 5)

Here is a Clip from "The Footsteps of Darkness Part 3"

This one is from Ep. 313, featuring Ayumi's new voice. (Which everybody hates.)

And for the last, Intro 13. It's kept in Japanese as all new Intros (we finally also get the Full endings), but the Speech before is of course dubbed.

Another clip, if you are interested.

Vermouth's new voice. (Melanie Hinze, the same voice actress as in Movie 20. Before that Vermouth and Jodie had the same voice actress. Hinze was also the voice of Kaname Chidori in the german dub of Full Metal Panic.)

Another bump.

Yesterday, the new episodes have ended for the moment, with the "The Strange Family's Request" Two Parter. (ProSieben Maxx will now show Magic Kaito 1412 instead.)

While the Anime Adaption of this case never has been one of my favorites, since it was imo. not that well adapted (some Angry Ran moments from the Manga were sadly omitted.), I really enjoyed it because Guiliana Jakobeit was once again perfect as Ran.

My final thoughts for the new episodes:

They were a dream come true. The Dub felt like there never had been a 12 year gap in the first place.
