Desperate Revival Region 2 DVD

All 6 of The Desperate Revival episodes (eps. 188-193) are available for purchase UBER CHEAP (like we're talking $10) from CDJapan thanks to one of Shogakukan's latest "DVD Selections" DVDs.

For 933 yen (roughly $10 plus shipping) you can own all 6 episodes on Region 2 DVD. Considering the normal price of import Conan DVDs that only have four episodes (and not necessarily all of them great), this is an absolute BARGAIN. (Normal Conan DVD that contain 4 episodes = 4200 yen/$43)

For some reason both Shogakukan's official listing and CDJapan list the item type as "Book" hence why I did not report on this earlier, but I received mine today and am happy to say it is in fact a Region 2 DVD of the episodes.

Only thing notably different about this collection of the episodes is that there are no opening or ending credits (and also no previews/Next Conan's Hint segments). And just a friendly reminder that the DVD is Region 2 so you'd need a Region 2 DVD player in order to watch the episodes and of course, there are no English subtitles.

So don't be confused like I was when you get a 14"x14" package in the mail for the DVD. (And yes I did accidentally tear a bit of the packaging when attempting to get the actual DVD's case out. ^^; )

I had heard about this from Puto and was quite excited--very glad it turned out well at that price! Definitely a bargain, to say the least!

Oh, Skyechan, question if you have a moment: Did they edit the episodes together ala DCTP style and make it just one long 'special'?

I honestly only received it today so I haven't had the opportunity to sit and watch, but I did flip through the scenes and basically it removes the opening/ending credit sequences (and therefore the previews/Next Conan's Hints). It does leave in the episode recaps though as after the scene where Haibara pulls out a gun after the screen fades Conan begins the recap that took place the episode following it. According to the DVD box it has a runtime of 125 minutes.

Sure? It looks like it's just the old-fashioned video format though frame size wise, so no remastering or anything as far as I can see, and of course there's interlacing since it's TV episodes instead of the progressive FILM frames (? am I remembering the term right? Been awhile since I've run DGIndex) we get from the movies. Oh, there are the trailers for Private Eye in the Distant Sea though.

I bought a couple of concert DVDs from Japan (belongs to the Region 2) but they won't play on my TV's DVD player (I'm in the U.S. which belongs to Region 1).
