You mean Yamamura -Keibu?
Yes, him! Sorry about that. XD
Edit: Googled it. The Yamamura I was referring to is Misao. Are they the same person?
To everyone's surprise, Yamamura got promoted.

But oh my, that episode when Conan keeps making mistakes because the criminal of the week is as kiddish as DB (can't remember ep number)... that's absolutely brilliant lol!
are you referring to 'The Secret of the High Sales' -ep.225 where the culprit actually hid the jewels under the house of the DBs' classmate/schoolmate?..
that one is really damn hilarious..
Yes!! Ah so it is 225 eh, thanks for the info!
So much fail for Conan in that one haha Mitsuhiko=anokata
In his defense, what kind of self-respecting criminal takes their plan directly out of an incredibly popular Holmes' mystery?
To be fair it's just a filler episode. I don't think that Gosho would've let him look that bad in the manga.
Especially after the Cursed Warehouse case when it was stated they wanted to see him defeated even once but according to this filler
they defeated him.
Anyways i have to admit the episode was hilarious and it was nice to have a naive culprit once in a time without solving a magical trick or
find the hole in a cast iron alibi.
What i really liked about the DB were their first cases. For example the Italian thiefs case or the house of fear (Conan the villager xD)
It's allways funny when Conan tries to make them go home but fails even if it often ends in a dangerous way so Conan has to safe them all it's
still nice to see that they won't give up so fast and often can help the investigation in one or another way.
Ps: Gentas most important job so far was to carry Conan during the "Path of the dragon" case
Yeah, I'd say they can be underappreciated by the fan base. Not a hardcore fan of them or anything, but they serve their purpose well and are entertaining.
Heck, with the fanfiction there tends to be a serviceable of pretty much other elements like Shinichi and Ran's future relation, his friendship with Heiji, even the crack pairings (Shinichi/Heiji or Shinichi/Kaito), but there's barely any fics which really focus on his friendship with the Detective Boys whether as Conan or Post Series where he's likely cured. I mean even with the annoyance he might have with them, I tend to be in the camp that believes that he couldn't really forget about them even when resuming his regular life (what's regular for him anyway).
That said, one moment that sticks out to me which can be seen in Volume 38 or Episode 313 is when they question Conan on why he always plays up his childishness when talking to adult with Genta and Mitsuhiko finding it annoying/creepy while Ayumi finds it cute.
Arguably one of the best attempts at tackling the story of "Ran discovering the secret behind Conan". It's strong point is taking a common plot for Detective Conan fan fics and presenting it in a fresh manner such as:
- Touching on things that aren't dealt with in the show or discussed much.
- While there is some understanding towards Conan's predicament, the fic doesn't ignore the problematic approach he takes towards keeping quiet.
So, do yourself a favor and read this. I only wish I could so something half as decent.

They also react to Shinichi/Conan doing this during the Magazine Interview Murder (Volume 50, File 515–517/Season 15, Episode 435–Episode 436).
“Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent. We would not dare to conceive the things which are really mere commonplaces of existence. If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”
“Education never ends... it is a series of lessons, with the greatest for the last.”

"I have decided to stick to love... hate is too great a burden to bear."
— Martin Luther King Jr. (A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr)
The Detective Boys are great introducers to characters that end up becoming wildly important later on in the story. They have been around in the intro to the characters of (excluding the dozens of "normal" police officers and detectives):
Sherry (duh!)
Shuichi Akai
James Black
Shukichi Haneda
Subaru Okiya
Scar Akai
and most recently,
Spoiler:
Rumi. Even though her full role hasn't been revealed, it's obvious she's going to be very important
The only other people who have been around for just as many or more intros have been Ran and Kogoro.
Now that could just be the law of averages... after all, Conan spends half of his time with the Detective Boys and the other half with Kogoro and Ran, but it still seems unusual the amount of truly plot-relevant characters are introduced while with the DBs. It's almost like they act as camouflage, disguising the important events with their seemingly annoying presence. I've started to pay very close attention whenever the DBs feature in a case immediately after some big arc has concluded.
