Re: Most despicable victim in DC?
What about the suicide 'victim' in case 3 setting it up to kill someone else. ( If convicted the accused might get the death penalty )

Re: Most despicable victim in DC?
In my opinion there is; "understandable" and "justifiable" are not the same thing. And in almost all cases the victims are either murderers themselves or are in some way responsible for someone's death even without killing them directly, like bringing people to suicide, slowly torturing and ruining someone's lives etc. To say that "there is no understandable reason for murder" in the DC setting works only if you apply the concept to the victims as well. Almost all the murders solved by Conan in the series are only consequences of the impunity of the original villains. If justice worked properly, there would be no revenge killings and Conan would be investigating the original murders instead, where there are "traditionally bad" murderers and "more or less innocent" victims. Instead, we have a confusing picture: Gosho always says he wants the viewers to have the idea that murder is inexcusable, then does everything in his power to portray victims as "bad" and the murderers as basically "good" people who slipped on their moral standards. I don't remember even 3 or 4 murderers in the series who were as infamous from the moral point of view as their victims. Just because the victims aren't necessarily murderers themselves, this doesn't mean they are better: there are ways to slowly "kill" a person by squeezing the desire to live out of them, and that's what the "victims" in DC do. They ask for what happens to them. To be honest, if a story like in DC happened in real life, I wouldn't have the guts to kill the scumbag myself, but I would never help the investigation in any way to catch the murderer (that is, if I knew the murderer acted because of despair and injustice). Since the cops didn't bring him/her justice when he/she needed it, it's their fault the revenge murder happened. Conan doesn't really want justice imho, he just increases the statistics of crimes solved, nothing more. When he will destroy the Black Organization, this will be the first real act of justice he does.Conia wrote:I'm not trying to argue about this, as it fictional, but: There's NO understandable reason for a murder.Callid wrote: Probably we could easily limit this topic to the first 200-250 episodes. After that, almost every murderer had a fairly understandable reason.

Gin & Vodka for killing Haibara's sister.

if the victims would be more nice, compassive, friendly and remorseful they would be still alive and the culprits would be free and reasonable.

In a way it's victims fault that they're victims. They weren't killed because or a tragic mistake or something. They all were targeted, because they first did something terrible. It's karma.Jecka wrote:It's the victims fault they're victims? Re: Most despicable victim in DC?
As true as that is, not all actually meant to do any of those things, some actions were accidental. I don't think they all deserved death and yet they were killed over fury or hatred over the loss of something or someone; some reasons, silly. Some actually showed remorse for what they did, and I honestly don't see why it's 100% their fault they were killed.Nemomon wrote:In a way it's victims fault that they're victims. maybe you're right but, what the culprits did to the victims to be punished unfairly? if the victims didn't did what they have done, the culprits would be free of any suspiciousness.

Re: Most despicable victim in DC?
even some victims didn't mind heartbreaking their lovers (the culprits). and the lovers usually girls became yanderes because of this, but they became regretful of their murder. (except the hammerman case)
