Was anyone else disappointed by the ending of the movie, when the princess returned to the palace and accepted to be put on the throne? I felt very sorry for the character, they didn’t even give her a short period to grieve for her murdered mother, and immediately started to talk about royal duties. I mean, duties or not, everyone has the right to a period of mourning when such a tragedy happens in your family. If I were her, I would just say to them: “go to [censored], if you know so much about governing and duties, take the throne for yourself, you will manage the kingdom far better than myself!” She initially did just that, but at the end the morals are that she “had to” return. It’s not right in my opinion, monarchy as an absurd form of government anyway because with the throne being transmitted to sons/daughters and not to the most capable individual, we all know how it usually ends. All the monarchies that survive to these days and didn’t turn into dictatorship have the king/queen put into just a symbolic position.
So I mean, while I understand the logic of the ending, I completely disagree with it. I would have preferred the princess to manage to break free and lead a normal kind of life.
