But yea, I found the DBoys additions to be amusing, but completely unnecessary, and Ran's contribution, yet again like always, brought down the mood and light-hearted spirit of the whole OVA. It was a bit.....well, it wasn't what I was expecting. I'll put it that way. Really, when I saw Sonoko, I wasn't expecting to see Haibara at all. Very glad she at least showed up.

While the Detective Boys additions were funny they felt completly out of place the first time I watched. But when they started escaping in Mitsuhiko's version I just accepted the "ridiculesness" and love it. Then after watching Ayumis cute explaination of "one->wan->dog" again it felt much better.  :P
Didn't like the way Ran finished her version as well. Too much in contrast with the rest of the light-hearted story.

Still, if you accept that OVAs are just little side storys with things that wouldn't fit in the actual anime - and if you like that kind of things - then OVA8 is quite enjoyable.  :)

I actually got what you meant but it still takes a while for my brain to process what the DBs did to Sonoko's play. I'm actually surprised that they didn't imagine themselves as super heroes or introduce Kamen Yaiba in there.
I actually would of liked a bit more of Sonoko time(she really isn't getting screen time in the manga/anime) but the Haibara vs Sonoko scene was just pure win.

Exactly. It was funny. I kind of expected it to be funny, but Sonoko kind of funny....so it took me by surprise when everyone else started adding their two cents.....But I always think of OVAs as things fans have made fanfics of....

I don't know why people disliked this OVA.  I finally watched it, and I liked it a lot.  I thought it was cute, funny, entertaining, and lighthearted.  The deductions by Genta, Ayumi, and Mitsuhiko just showed how innocent a child's mind is, which contrasts with Ai and Conan's adult, more logical ways of thinking.  I was laughing my head off at Mitsuhiko's scenario due to how crazy it was and how in his fantasy, Conan shows up on that skateboard of his to help them.  Talk about a wild imagination, but even for Mitsuhiko, that seemed a bit "out there", ya know?  I like how Sonoko was all "no!!" and how they couldn't do that with their budget or whatever.

I liked how Ai mentioned all the flaws of Sonoko's deduction for the play.  It was perfect! lol  Liked Sonoko's reaction to it, and just to think, if it wasn't for Ai, the scenarios wouldn't have been brought up at all probably.

I personally liked Ran's scenario, and how for her fantasy, Shinichi stays back with her.  I wish they would've kept it going.  I'm curious as to how far she was going to allow the fantasy to go.  I also like the fact Shinichi was playing the violin.  We all know that he does anyway...just was nice to see it again.

In a way, wish there were more situations involving the characters in casual settings.  You know, get an insight into what their lives are like or what's going on within them without a murder case being involved to complicate things.

Maybe another OVA will come around as amusing as this one.  To be honest, I prefer the DBs in situations like these, as opposed to their being involved in real cases...like the current case in the manga, as I felt that they shouldn't have been so involved at all (like they shouldn't have been the ones to go to the station) in that one since they weren't even physically there to witness what happened with Kobayashi-sensei.  Only Conan was...technically.
