Kinda funny you say that, cause it was brought up on IRC a while back, and--in all fairness--we would still do it for free if FUNi wanted. Naturally, there are a multitude of legal ramifications involved, but (at least on the surface) we would love it.
I only buy DVD (any DVD, Hollywood movies, docs, TV series, whatever) when:
- have the same image quality compared to the DVD released in its home country (I'm sick and tired of anime DVDs in the country I live - most of them have bootleg image quality even those that costs 3 to 4 times more than a North American release with better image quality)
- it has the original AR (I hate widescreen to fullscreen cropping, same for opposite)
- it has original audio and if it has the same quality as the DVD released in its home country (it's stupid to let us with stereo when the original is surround 6 channels)
- it has soft subs (who's the brainless being to use hardsubs in a DVD?)
- it's not censored, cut or any other change regarding the source (I'm totally against censorship)
regarding Conan's DVD, I know I wouldn't buy - cause they edit the opening/ending sequences so they can put they own English credits and they repeat the same video in all episodes, so I know I gotta lean Japanese and import the R2 releases
TMS is to blame for all of those problems. FUNIMATION HAS MADE NO CUTS TO CONAN, except one episode out of 123 (which they might fix). the episodes all have Japanese audio and subtitles. you can get 26 episodes for $30 (that a steal only kaitou could pull of). conan is not anywhere near as bad as 4kids one piece so stop treating it like it. if you want more conan on DVD in america then buy the freaking american release of conan. everyone stop being so picky. it's great if you are learning Japanese, just please stop treating case closed like a 4kids series, it's not that bad

I'm not exactly a huge fan of the dub but yeah, anyone who compares it to 4kidsPiece is crazy.
4kids is the worst well known dub company out there. Funimation's the best. If both of those dubs are to be compared, than they are the worst dub for each company (considering how DBZ has been redone). So basically, 4kidsPiece is the worst of the worst and Case Closed is the worst of the best. (I suppose)
