A Riddle for eveyone

Hello everyone, I was looking for a book the other day and instead of finding it I found this really interesting Riddle! And I thought it was a great idea to share it with you.

Here it goes:

All dwelling in one house are strange brothers three,
as unlike as any three brothers could be,
yet try as you may to tell brother from brother,
you´ll find that the trio resemble each other.
The first isn´t there, though he´ll come beyond doubt.
The second´s departed, so he´s not about.
The third and the smallest is right on the spot,
and manage without him the others could not.
Yet the third is a factor with which to be reckoned
because the first brother turns into the second.
You cannot stand back and observe number three,
for one of the others is all you will see.
So tell me, are the three of them one?
Or are there but two? Or could there be none?
Just name them, and you will at once realize
that each rules a kingdom of infinite size.
They rule it together and are in it as well.
In that, they´re alike, so where do they dwell?

HINT!: A CLOCK

I hope you find it interesting!  ;)

Nope, the answer is not that, but you´re getting closer, keep trying  :D.

JUST ANOTHER HINT: The brothers are not something that you can touch, they´re inmaterial.

Almost. But remember, you´ll have to explain why you answered that, and resolve the second part of the Riddle: what kingdom they rule and where do they dwell.

They Rule the Kingdom of time and they dwell at 12 o'clock when if it's a clock with hands, they will all be at the same spot at the same time, and if it's digital it would all be 00:00:00 ^_^

It is true that they dwell the kingdom of time, but the rest of the answer is wrong. Think about the part of the Riddle that says: The first isn´t there, though he´ll come beyond doubt.
"The second´s departed, so he´s not about.
The third and the smallest is right on the spot,
and manage without him the others could not.
Yet the third is a factor with which to be reckoned

The answer is correct, but you got the wrong order, there are HINTS in the Riddle that reveal the order. And you'll have to answer what kingdom they rule and where do they dwell. And remeber, you'll have to explain why you chose that order, why the third is a factor with which to be reckoned, why you cannot stand back and observe number three, and this, "are the three of them one? Or are there but two? Or could there be none?".

;D It's enough to make the head spin.

So this is what we know so far, the brothers are past, present and future and they rule the kingdom of time, but where do they dwell and are they all the same and why is it that you cannot stand back and observe number three are the remaining unanswered questions, correct??

The first isn´t there, though he´ll come beyond doubt. Future
"The second´s departed, so he´s not about.Past
The third and the smallest is right on the spot,
and manage without him the others could not.Present
Yet the third is a factor with which to be reckoned
because the first brother turns into the second.Future turns into past
You cannot stand back and observe number three,
for one of the others is all you will see." They dwell in a clock because a clock represents time, you can't stand back and look at the present because the clock keeps moving to the future

So, the first brother is the future, the second the past and the third is present, they rule the kingdom of time, they dwell in a clock and you can't see the present in a clock because it's always moving forward (future) Am I right Holmes?? ^_^

Bravo!Bravo! That's simply a great deduction, congratulations, very well analized. You found and got all the details, well done!

P.D - Let's see if I can find other stuff. Oh, and if anyone wants to know the source of the Riddle, I got it from the book "Momo" of Michael Ende, a really fantastic book.
