Going with the lead is usually a better idea than random, due to the fact we learn if they are really evil, or if they end up being town, we can have information ( either a suspect or a lead for Special Investigate, interrogation- both kinds ) It's also possible if it's a real lead the BO can figure it out and poison the person who's lead it was. ) so if we don't act on it, we may lose townies.

Now I'm cold and going to cuddle Conia in the lawn chairs.
