Welcome to the DC specials contest! In this contest, 28 specials and four especially notable multipart cases will be facing off against each other for... some kind of supremacy. The format is single elimination, with pairings being determined by a standard bracket (see bottom of the post for the bracket). During the first two rounds, the faceoffs will last roughly 4 days. In the next round, they will be 5 days, then 6, the finals last 7 days. If there is a tie, the tiebreaker will be the time in seconds of the OP. If the OP was posted at an even second (.ie. hh:mm:30), the first entry will win; if the time in seconds is odd (i.e. hh:mm:31) the second entry will win. Lame tiebreak, I know. The links provided are from TheQuyen's thread, many props to him for maintaining it.

ha ha ha... the face of shinichi as a cry baby is the worst image for me... i even dont want to watch that part twice.. always fast forward it!

Going with Moonlight Sonata here. It packs more of a punch emotionally than all but a few episodes in the series and the mystery is top notch. Murderer, Kudo Shinichi is a nice case, but the main trick was a bit too obvious and Shinichi seemed really lazily drawn (quibble, I know).

Is Moonlight Sonata really that highly regarded?  I figured it would take something more than a regular good episode to really fight off a Shinichi episode.

really? i liked moonlight sonota but it's so...obvious. i didn't see through the shinichi trick. and that's something for me. i like it

all shinichi fans and shin x ran and also Heiji fans will chose the 521-523....

because the episode with a real shinichi is quite few!.. almost all is conan only... so they will chose this!...

but for me... wow... i cant imagine he's crying... thats why milaneechan..... i want to trow you with my mouse when you made him cry over that silly holmes book

I guess it just depends on what you're looking for. As soon as "mute Shinichi" was introduced I felt like it was someone else and when the Shirigami was shown I felt like it was him. In Moonlight Sonata, I had a good idea of who the killer was, but was quite thrown off by the twist.

moonlight sonata. i saw right through it when i noticed the doctor always wore a turtle neck or a coat. mute shinichi i thought something was up like something went bad or he hit his head but the twist surprised me.

Going against what xpon said, I voted for Moonlight Sonata. It was just a better story period, complete with one of the most shocking twists to date. Plus it had a character named Shuuichi who wore a tuque. Foreshadowing anyone?
