DC Movie Contest: "Countdown to Heaven" vs. "Strategy Above

Post by dilbertschalter »

In the last faceoff, "The Phantom of Baker Street" beat "The 14th Target". This time, in the second (and last) contest of the semifinals, we have:

Movie 5: Countdown to Heaven

vs.

Movie 9: Strategy Above the Depths

Detective Movies Contest 2013: Information Thread  Current Faceoff

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

EH? Heaven is in the lead? I voted for SAtD because of Mouri's extremely rare right-on-the-mark deductions.. ^_^

I might wake up early and go running. I also might wake up and win the lottery. The odds are about the same.

Countdown to Heaven, though Kogoro's deduction was cool.

Really hard to decide, and if either of these lose to Phantom, I'll simply be shocked, so much so that I'll have to spend two episodes recapping everything to figure out how the hell it beat The Fourteenth Target.

Either way, Heaven is honestly campy action, BO plot, pretty good mystery, and suicidal Ai all wrapped in a fine Sunday stew, it may have so too much going on, but dangit all if I didn't enjoy seeing a car surf a explosion into a pool. If only Ai didn't talk, seriously, she is so annoying in this movie I just want to slap her and tell her to stop ruining the fun. Sonoko's hair cut was fun too, becasue when you see it your like, "NOOOO DON'T DO IT YOU FOOL" That rich brat has some bad luck.

Depths, Had the most epic Kogoro action, but the problem is, I can't remember the acutal murders. Okay, I've seen Heaven twice and Depths once, but besides knowing that it was a good mystery and the most epic reveal in any movie. The case itself must have been really bland if I can't remember it.

But have their problems, and beat far better movies in my opinion. Can I just vote for Shin-chan to beat every movie and win despite the fact he's a character? Probably not...

Every time I want to give up on DC, it manages to bring me back, it brings me back feelings I know that I will never ever feel or live again.

It is funny how movies with no plot but lots of action are liked better then better movies with lot of plot and a few twists. It is sad to see the better movie losing to the inferior ones.
