EDIT:  In a very close contest, Mysterious Eyes beats out Koi wa!  (Hurray, I don't have to watch Conan dance for the rest of the contest!)

Mysterious Eyes x INFINITY

It's no contest.  Mysterious Eyes OP is one of my favorites (animation + song both tops, and worked together real well), and Koi wa's animation is such that no song could ever, EVER save it.

Koi wa Thrill, Shock, Suspense easily for me. Much better IMO.

Voted for Mysterious Eyes... Koi wa Thrill Shock Suspense is my least favorite opening song... It's because of the interpretative dance thing...

I should let you know that isn't an "interpretive dance," but is, in fact, a REAL dance called the Para Para.... Go figure....

That being said.... I don't particularly like either OP...

Song:

Mysterious Eyes is a nice song, but ehh... I think the drum machine kills it for me... And I must say... I rarely hear such bad use of a drum machine.... The voice IS nice though, lyrics are decent enough too... But I think if you don't have the dignity to do each part of the song well... might as well not do it at all... By using a drum machine and making it static for most of the song, and making it so noticeably a drum machine just tells me that the artist wasn't putting much effort into the song.

The same thing can be said of Koi wa Thrill, Shock, Suspense, but... the style of the song is thus that you expect a drum machine. And what is worse, to add insult to injury, it is actually less static than in Mysterious Eyes... For a largely electric song, you expect a looping drum machine, and it works usually. And Aiuchi Rina did a fairly good job with making the song work as a whole... However... As a song I think its worse than Mysterious Eyes... And to be honest, I don't really have reasoning for that, I just don't like the song.

Animation:

Mysterious Eyes has better animation, at least I think so. The song matched up, and other than my gripes with the song itself... It was quite nice.

Koi wa Thrill Shock Suspense makes me laugh... It just does. Seeing Conan do an adaptation of the Para Para is simply entertaining. I think part of the reason it is so entertaining to me is that I know his personality, and he would never dance unless he was forced into it [or if it was a romantic dance with Ran, but for some reason I imagine that being awkward], or it would help him prove a point. Both situations I don't think would be cause for the Para Para. It doesn't help that EVERY video that I have found of the Para Para happen to be performed by girls [is conan really a girl?!], just youtube para para dance to see for yourself...

So... I have to say neither!

I would shamelessly plug the Lupin III S2 theme, since it is so awesome... And I just downloaded as many Lupin III OSTs as I could, so I am in Lupin III overload... but I don't think it needs it...

Aw what the hell <3

Mysterious Eyes

It reminds me of DC's best episodes (okay there are more best episodes, but) they were so fine. Besides feelng nostalgic, I love the lyrics and the clip too.

Koi wa... has 1 big flaw, that's the dance part. It is terrible, should be a crime for making Conan do this for weeks for an opening. >.>

Koi wa btw. is quite a good song in English. O_O

Koi wa!! >:( It's just the song we're talking about, right? Besides, blame the Para Para dance, not Conan! >_>
Koi wa sounds GREAT in English! :D

Mysterious Eyes is not one of my favorite openings...it's one of the songs I'm not exactly crazy about as most of DC's songs. It's on my iPod because, IMO, it's not as terrible as OP 1, ED 1, and ED 2.

Mysterious Eyes, no question!

It was my first real OP when I started watching Conan, I have such great memories of waiting for that song every week.  Also, I think it's a great song in general, and it's still one of my absolute favorite J-Pop songs ever!

Mysterious Eyes.

Thrll, Shock, Suspense is by far my least favorite OP. I don't like the song, I hate the dance, just ugh...

Well, I'm going to break my little "rule" [don't ask] and watch this eighth opening to see what all the fuss is about. Be right back.

EDIT: Okay, now I see. Time for my decision.

I'll start off with the latter choice. Song is cool. Definitely my kind of stuff. However, the dancing...yeah, rather silly and kind of pointless. I do not approve.

Therefore, my vote has to go to Mysterious Eyes for a few reasons.
1) I really do like somewhat slower songs. Very calming [which I could use now]. Nicely sung.
2) The animation, along with the music, is much less action-filled, and after six openings of upbeat, fast-paced openings, it's nice to tone things down a notch. It's kind of like the moment in a lot of the shows I watch where the plot takes a bit of a backseat in importance for me, and I would like to see a little more normal character interactions.
3) The one part of the opening where's they're walking outside is my favorite. Prime example of the normality I mentioned earlier. Also, the softer colors there make me miss those days when I was in elementary school, and our family would walk the five blocks to school with the low sun splashing light on the houses. [starts to tear up]
4) I think the fact that this song haunted me for 48 hours straight is a major factor. The latter, while I like the song, doesn't seem that it will latch into my brain as much as this did.

But even if it was just a song-to-song comparison, my decision would remain the same.
