Well... yes.
You hate the main character. You dislike Ran, the other main character. You hate Ayumi and Genta who will appear 95% of the cases where Ran does not appear. Why are you watching the show anyway?

Which would mean you are either exaggerating greatly or torturing yourself. No matter what it is, it will leave people speechless.
Maybe he's in there only for the cases and the plot?
You know, even though I don't hate any character, we can't say that DC has the most well thought out characters in the world.
Maybe the characters are thought-out well; and it so happens that their outstanding trait is that they are not very likeable. The Detective boys, for me, couldn't get any more realistic in their behavior.

When three specific characters have the exact behavior of their counterparts from the Magic Kaito manga, I don't think we can compliment Gosho for this too much.

Sorry, but I don't follow Kaito's manga that well, could you be more specific?

Shinichi and Ran are kinda like the exact replica of Kaito and Aoko.
You could argue that some part of Haibara's personality is also driven from Akako's.

Some recurrent characters in DC aren't that great, but to compensate there are some one-time characters which are just excellent and could be among my favorite characters : the lady who smokes in episode 75, a few members of the Hatamoto family etc...

Ah! it threw me off when you said three character! For a second there, I thought the detective boys had a counterpart, in Magic Kaito's manga :o
But regarding the original question:
It would be appropriately suitable for protagonist to have a doppelgänger as a an ultimate rival; couldn't be thought of that way?

The role of Kaito Kid is usually more of a guest in DC. I'm not a fan of doppelgängers, though.
I still believe that Kaito is just Gosho's favorite character so he wanted to have the "same" character in the detective manga too, it would also make his job easier.

Well that definitely facilitated the process of the initial creation of DC; which in turn allowed him to avoid a potential writer's block that would have left Gosho idling aimlessly on how to begin a story, instead of coming up with other more important element in DC that we know have.........
You can't indiscriminately criticise an artist for whatever petty minutiae you observe in his work!

What? The critic is a clone of the artist? Serious Ran post the introduction of Sonoko is the same as Aoko? God, this forum really is run by a bunch of carping  anti-fans. {you can guess what goes in the braces}

I agree. Some people tell me they think Kaito will have some important part in the BO plot, but I always thought Kaito Kid was just that once in while guest appearance type of thing for laughs and excitement and so people won't forget about and look forward to Magic Kaito.

You're becoming too predictable. tbh, I'm disappointed, I expected more from you  :'(

That's the beauty of it, I actually can do that. Whether I should do that or not is a different matter  ;)

What a horrible analogy. It's actually costly to liquidate one's assets, find a place that'll let you immigrate, book passage and establish residence there (not to mention the U.S. actually made laws to make it even more costly). Not carping on fan forums about something you dislike is almost free. If only costs you the joy of carping. Don't believe your carping imposes no external costs to others' enjoyment of their fandom, either.

Such parameters are arbitrarily set, so, in this case, it is really unreasonable to argue!

You certainly are taking this very playfully!
