No I did not. Therefore I do have a right to say that.kkslider5552000 wrote:did you vote for Countdown to Heaven last time?dilbertschalter wrote:sstimson wrote: It is funny how movies with no plot but lots of action are liked better then better movies with lot of plot and a few twists. Lots of plot!=good plot.
Because if so you have no right to say this.![]()
IMO the three best movies
1)Last Magician
2)Strategy
3) Baker Street
5 - might have a 30 minute mystery after that all action
4 - is better and a clever way to put the title in the movie. That one while still not a full 120 minutes mystery is more like a 45- 60 minute one
3 - Is a great blend of Mystery and Action. Great twist. And of course Kid meets his match
9 - Is the true master crazy how two people murder the same one using the same trick. Again a nice blend of mystery and action
Just my reviews. IMO a good story is the most important thing for a good movie. put the right blend of all the elements can make that good movie a great one

I agree with you on Last Wizard being the best (still can't believe it lost), but I think you're seriously overrating Strategy. Kogoro is my favorite character and it was nice to see him triumph for once, but that was incredibly obvious all along. The biggest crime (lol) that this movie commits, as it see it, is the stuff with Ran at the end. "we've solved the mystery, nice jo- oh shit we have no idea where Ran is." Multiple climaxes are not a good thing for movies. Countdown sort of had this problem, but because the intensity was only ratcheted up the second climax it didn't feel as unpleasant.sstimson wrote:No I did not. "The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

But You missed something For most of the movie it looks like it is person A but it turns out to be person B. Kogorou Was even better the Shinichi / Conan who missed the neccessary connection. Yes Ran at the End is weak, but that part is action not plot. I meaning that was put in and agreed it was not neededdilbertschalter wrote:I agree with you on Last Wizard being the best (still can't believe it lost), but I think you're seriously overrating Strategy. I still prefer the plot of strategy above the depths and Kogoro is great in it too.

I finally went with Countdown to Heaven due to the re-watch factor, I'd watch Heaven twice more while Strategy Above the Depths is eh, I'd proabaly not.
Kogoro not withstanding, the movie was kinda forgettable to me.

Let me remind you of what you are missing a quote from Hairaba to MitsuhikoMead wrote: I finally went with Countdown to Heaven due to the re-watch factor, I'd watch Heaven twice more while Strategy Above the Depths is eh, I'd proabaly not.

Re: DC Movie Contest: "Countdown to Heaven" vs. "Strategy Above the Depths"
Out of the ones that are left, I think I'm voting Countdown to the end.

Superman = Captain America > Aquaman = Hal Jordan > Wonder Woman > Barry Allen > Thor > Martian Manhunter > The Hulk > Wasp > Hawkeye > [power gap] > Iron Man = Batman > [power gap] > Hank Pym

Strategy already exceeded expectations, and Countdown does not totally suck, so I am content.
