And about your parents and other married people 12 or more years apart, that's different from this because they already knew that FROM THE START. Imagine, Mitsuhiko has been thinking Haibara is of the same age until he knows the truth 11 years or so later. And the truth isn't only of her real age, it's about her past with the BO and what happened why she is in that state now. He didn't know anything about that and it would hurt him much.   

I don't know why Mistuhiko would know about Haibara and the drug in 11 years.
For me it was something like 100% sure that the DBs would eventually find out that Conan and Haibara are actually 17/18 and Shinichi and Shiho.
Because in the end, Conan will definitely turn into Shinichi, and I think that will be the latest point, where the DBs will find it out. They could figure it out earlier too, in a case where conan or haibara have to turn back into their grown up bodies because of a dangerous situation.

I don't think Shinichi wants to loose the DBs as friends, so he'll definitely tell them. Once the BO is down, there is no need not to tell them either.

None of this changes the fact that Mitsuhiko is a seven-year-old boy and Haibara is an eighteen-year-old woman.

If she's staying as Haibara Mitsuhiko would eventually get older and more mature.... riiiight? xD

Except so would Haibara, making her almost 30 while he turns 18. There is still a huge maturity difference. I understand it's common for older people to date high schoolers and such. But come on. He's seven. Seven.

I don't want her to die, because even though it can make the ending more emotional, I hate it when the characters I like die, it's too sad!! Also, I don't think it has to be either ending up with somebody or dying, I think she can live happy without a lover, she has lots of people who love her without being a romantic love.
