Apparently Fumihiko Tachiki, Vodka's seiyū, was a blues singer. If you want to hear him carry (or fail to carry) a tune then hit the link and knock yourself out. Too bad Gin's seiyū doesn't sing... or maybe that's a good thing.

I prefer Sonoko's energy myself and from what I could tell, Sonoko(VA) has no problem with a fast-paced song.
Ran(VA) on the other hand...is really bad in her version of Otome Gokoro. I'm not sure if she's just bad at upbeat songs or if she has trouble staying "Ran" while singing anything other than a slow song.

There should be an Ai character song as her VA(Megumi) is more than capable of performing one and Ai(movie canon) has a decent voice. It's probably part of her DC contract that she will refrain from singing or even humming as to not upset Minami. .

Yu Yu Hakusho dubbed was a masterpiece, so I'm not surprised you like the dubbed version better.  It's one of my favorite animes of all time, so much nostalgia back on Toonami/adult swim :O
