erm... I kinda should have done this way waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy earlier... but I didn't cause I was just interested by the fan works section... ehehe *sweatdrop*
so, hi you guys, I'm Yuri Iwamoto, as most of you probably know already (XD)
Yuri came from my second name, Iwamoto came from a random character I made for my story DLS (Dead Like Shinichi)
I like cats (I have five :-X) and huskies... I also love nature and making pictures of it and I have a collection of orchids in my room. I have about seven or eight I believe.
Ah, and guess what..? I love drawing :) both images in my siggy link to my art pages
I'm on FF as YouthfulLily and on dA as SakuraMaiden1993, so if you want to stalk me there, go do so :P

make sure their soil doesn't dry out, water them at least once a week and make sure to remove remaining water. Too much water is what usually makes them moldy (if you see mold, remove it immediately), orchids can't take it, so make sure you don't water them too often and when you do you should only give them a little.
Also, soak orchids once a month in water mixed with plant food (preferably orchid plant food) for at least ten minutes.
finally, some orchids only bloom once a year, just have patience :)

Thanks! I'll try the orchid plant food, because we usually water ours once a week and it doesn't grow.

do you cut off the old stems too?
if it grows too many leaves you can try cutting those off too, maybe the plant puts more energy in making those...
actually, do you know what kind of orchids you have?

Considering the only time it was with flowers was when I bought it to my mom, it was errrrr 3 years ago? it barely grows new leaves, since 3 years ago, a few weeks ago, I changed the soil (we use a special orchid one) and it seems to be a bit better.
We have a white phalaenopsis :)

Should we open an orchid topic? a plant care topic somewhere? ^^
