saw Rei episode just now and I have noticed several things that I consider improvement from original anime:

1.Mamorou Chiba's age: now no one would call him a paedophile!

2. Rei's personality: I have to admit I like this Rei more than original anime Rei because she actually gets stuff done... and I like her "back story" of how she is isolated due to her power... ( Kinda similer to Hotaru Tomoe's back story) and when you think about it it makes sense and it made me think... How in the world did Rei in original anime did not get called out for her power but Hotaru did?

Also did anyone notice slight ship tease between Rei& Jadeite makes sense considering
Spoiler:
Jadeite is Sailor Mar's former lover before he was brain washed and crazy
I wonder if this anime would show it later in the future.

Is it me or dose Jadeite look way younger here... he looks around about 17 or 18. While in the original anime he looks early 20's...

Also next episode seems to be about that princess episode... I guess it would be few episode till introduction of Sailor Jupiter...

I actually prefer original anime Rei. Her personality clashed with Usagi, which led to some fun banter between the two.
Speaking of which, fun is something this anime seems to kinda lack so far. Part of it is probably due to the stale animation and character design, but the tone (at least in this episode) seemed extra serious, so when Usagi transformed into a flight attendant, it felt out of place. The intent was humorous, but it clashed with the tone due to the lack of balance.

As far as the animation goes, it was probably better than the previous episode, but it still had some bad moments.

So far the only scenes that leave the biggest impression on me are the Dark Kingdom scenes. It probably has to do with the fact that the scenery is vastly different from the original anime's. But I also feel these specific scenes have a fitting atmosphere and personality.

The stuff like Mamoru's age and Rei's backstory are all back in line with the original manga, which I'm glad of (aging Mamoru up to an adult in the first anime always really creeped me out because, destined lovers or not, there's something a bit skeevy about a guy,3 in his early twenties dating a fourteen-year-old). And in general I LOVE REI SO MUCH AND I'M SO GLAD SHE'S FINALLY HERE

I still agree that the faces could do with more expression, though, and the transformations still look a bit weird compared to the rest of the show :/

(Also, I've always loved the major crush that Usagi has on Rei in this episode. In the manga, after Rei attacks her, Usagi mutters to herself that she can forgive a beautiful girl for anything. *clings to my pretty bi protagonist*)

Seen the third episode and it was not as bad as I thought it will be. First, Usagi's voice (for now) stopped being annoying. Rei stopped being annoying as well, so the anime is more about plot, and less about malicious and sexual preferences of the main staff (well... except Usagi and her heart eyes in the buss....). I kinda liked what Jadeite said about Rei. After all Jadeite - unofficially - is paired with Rei, it is natural for him to feel attracted to her.

I gotta say, as someone unfamiliar with the first anime, it's kinda interesting to see the commentary from people who are. Anime and manga fans definitely have different perspectives on it.

Also, the Rei/Jadeite stuff is pretty out of nowhere for me because Rei only ever had one love interest in the manga that I can recall, and that was in a oneshot bonus chapter. Most of the time, she was very much "F*CK THAT SHIT" in regards to relationships and men in general.

Not that I think it'd make too much of a difference from a western point of view, but I'm pretty sure Mamoru starts at 19 in the original anime.

Is it just me, or are they trying to be very minimal at the amount of "face shots"? I feel like there were a bit too many times in this episode that characters were talking without us seeing their faces.

watched next episode and it was ok... I like how they try to make four heavenly kings work together rather than separately... Also what did you guys think of UsagiXMamour moment in this episode... I kinda thought it was cute... Except that scene when Mamoru tried to kiss Usagi when she was asleep...

oh and next we meet Sailor Jupiter ( Makato Kino)

Hm... I barely remember writing in my own thread *awkward cough*
Anyhow, I found some voice awfully annoying but I would say I'm fine with the show in general if you ignore the transforming scenes :| *shudders at the thought of them* Make it proper anime D:

Haven't gotten a chance to watch the episode yet since my regular laptop is down and my old laptop is shit. I remember the Masquerade Ball chapter being the first chapter I ever read, though, so I was always pretty fond of it, even if Mamoru kissing Usagi while she was drunk and asleep was pretty creepy. But the drawings of Usagi's dress were so gorgeous.

I'm not a huge fan of Sailor Moon, but there's one girl at work who is. It's like she has a radar or her ears just perk up at the mere mention of Sailor Moon. Doesn't matter if someone only commented on his daughter's bag or that it was significant in the movie Miracle in Cell No.7.. she'd just sit up straight at once and look for whoever's talking about Sailor Moon. It's quite funny to watch, actually. :D
