I'm pretty sure that Ranma 1/2 was the very first anime I watched. Maybe it was Dragonball though.

Pokemon, if that counts. Watching that on Saturday mornings was the closest thing I had to religion, until New Doctor Who came along.

If not, Yu-Gi-Oh. It used to be on right before.

If both are excluded due to being dubbed by 4kids (as well they might), InuYasha is my first, though I never watched it all the way through.
