That is what kept me from checking it out as well... I feel a bit shallow about it now. lol I mean the art style has actually grown on me quite a bit. I've learned to appreciate how diverse the character designs are.

The art is actually the reason that makes One Piece more awesome. It's unique unlike the rest where many characters look the same.

I read the 1st chapter...Luffy's face just makes me wanna slap him.
Also, since they are pirates, do they rob and kill others? Are they sorta anti-heroes?

lol I doubt slapping him would do much good.

This is also one of the few series where its anime adaptation is actually on par with the manga.

Even the fillers are awesome.

I think even if they are pirates who seek to fulfill their own personal goals. They still seem to share a fair amount of morality. They seem to care pretty deeply about their friends and relatives for the most part.
