Catching up on Free! Eternal Summer. I really love Rin in this season. He's mellowed out so much and looks so much happier and it's just a joy to see. Plus him teaching Rei other strokes is just wonderful and adorable and so is everyone begging Rei not to leave the team. After all the time last season that Rei spent scared that he wasn't as important to his friends as Rin was, it's great to see these open demonstrations of affection and Rin and Rei getting along well together.

But Rin's old boybest friend is seriously giving off some borderline psychotically-overprotective vibes. Is he jsut upset because Rin's not been scouted yet?

Finished The Last Airbender. I see why everyone raves so much about this show. Now gonna go onto Legend of Korra. I've been warned to lower my expectations.

Btw, Legend of Korra is pretty good though Last Airbender will always be better imo.

I just spent the last 45 minutes trying to think of a love triangle setup that I liked for any other purposes than comedy and I've still got nothing. By and large, love-triangles-for-drama depend on somewhat toxic relationship archetypes, such as two people competing over a third as if they're a prize to be won without considering that the "prize" might have their own feelings and opinions on the matter (and often with the implicit obligation that the prize has to choose one of the two and can't go "nah I don't like either of you"), or the notion that "wearing him/her down" is in any way a viable start for a healthy relationship.

I mean, one of the things that I really enjoyed while watching ATLA was that there were no actual love triangles; the closest they got was that episode that Katara had a crush on Jet, I think, and that only lasted an episode. In general, really, I don't like a lot of drama in fictional relationships. If I wanted to see unnecessary drama over people acting stupidly over their inability to trust their partner/keep it in their pants, I'd spend more time on Facebook. Give me more of Aang and Katara dancing together and Sokka and Suki snuggling and Zuko and Mai looking weirdly happy around each other and happy couples kicking lots of ass together, plz. I am so very here for all that cute shit.

(Also, part of me kept wanting to lean into the screen and go, "hey! Mako! Korra! Asami! I have the perfect solution to all of your problems: threesome.")
